Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Kinda quiet around here lately. I presume nobody has seen any evidence of the room renovations yet? Just to recap, I did see workers removing heat/ac units on April 4 in Jamaica. Mind that could just be tuning up/channging out the units in anticipation of the summer cooling season? :)

In exactly one week from now, I'll be some 30,000+ feet above the ground en route to WDW. I'll definitely ask at check-in about the refurb, although I 'm sure it's highly unlikely I'll get any good info. From there, I'll keep my eyes open for any signs of work being done.

Please forgive me if this question has been asked and answered a hundred times already, but it seems that each place I look, I get a different answer (DIS, TripAdvisor, etc). Are all the beds at CBR still doubles? Or are they now queens?
Thank you!

The standard rooms are still doubles. Supposedly, the long awaited refurbishment will include queen sized beds. No sign of the refurbishment yet, though. :)

Hi!! I am planning my WDW honeymoon for early November. We've booked a King room at the CBR. I've read through this thread and heard that the bedding has been updated. Does anyone have any recent pictures of the rooms (including the bedding)? Thank you!!!

You say standard rooms, this applies to preferred as well correct? Double beds there too?

I asked over on the transportation thread, but thought I would ask here to.

What is the route that the DME take to get to the CBR. Just trying to make a plan for our trip next month. :goodvibes

Can't really say. The bus could make a stop or two at other resorts before getting to CBR.

Question about entering/exiting the resort. Looking at the resort on Google maps there is an road connecting CBR onto Victory Way. Do these have automated gates you can use with your Magic Bands while you are a registered guest?

Thats been our experience as well .... a couple of times when we took the red eye we were the only ones there and they took us straight to our resort. Other times we've had to wait and we were not the first stop.

This entrance/exit was for WDW busses only. At least that was the case last October because I tried to enter that way per my GPS!

Our bus stopped at 3 resorts, but it stopped at CBR first. I couldn't tell you what route, though, because a) it was dark and b) they will give you buses with darkened out windows so you can't actually see anything! It's a shame, because we wanted to video ourselves coming in!

We're considering a split stay, starting at another resort and moving to Caribbean Beach.

We will not have a rental vehicle and would be arriving at Caribbean Beach from the parks (using luggage transfer service).

Will a bus stop at the Customs House building so we can check in and receive our room assignment? Or will we have to get off somewhere and walk?

Coming from the Parks you would take the CBR bus & get off at Barbados.. As far as I can recall the Park buses do not stop at Custom House but, Custom House is directly across the road from Barbados Village :)

We're going in September (13-20) of this year, which according to the other threads, means probably during free dining, so everything should be busier.

What are my chances of getting a first-floor courtyard view if we pay for preferred at that time? Right now we're in a standard room, requested Jamaica 45. I have a 5 year old who still naps & goes to bed early, and last time we went my husband and I had to either go to bed or sit silently at about 8:00 each night, so she could sleep.

If we had a courtyard view, she's big enough that we could tell her if she needs us to get out of bed and open the door - we'd be sitting in the courtyard. If I'm not likely to get a courtyard view, I'll have to upgrade to the Animal Kingdom, so we have a balcony, and the upgrade to preferred is $250, versus the upgrade to Animal Kingdom of $800.

Any thoughts?

We've requested courtyard view several times and the request was met most of those times. Even if you aren't facing a courtyard, there are benches scattered about that you could sit on if it's near your room. If it's not busy, we've taken our chairs just outside the door and sat just enjoying the evening.

Keeping my eye on this thread for any hint of a refurb that includes queen beds. ;) If they put in queen beds, we're staying there for sure in December. (well, as long as I can get the room of course!) The fact that they still have doubles has always been the holdup for us staying there.
