Looks like cheerleaders are going to be staying at CBR while we are there. They don't usually practice their cheers at the resort, do they? We use our resort as a quiet place for our daughter (who has autism) when the parks get overwhelming. Now I am concerned the resort might not be so quiet.

I guess the demand just wasn't there. I rarely saw people renting boats...maybe once or twice in all the days I've spent at CBR. Wasn't the pirate cruise on the lake to begin with?

The pirate cruises were on the channel at POR but I don't know about other resorts.

I just got back from a week at CBR. There were several groups of cheerleaders at the resort. Most of the time I saw them practicing in a parking lot, and you had to be pretty close to here them. We were about 50 feet and barely heard their radio. One afternoon there were about 5 practicing in the pool, and maybe 7 or 8 on the beach (both in Jaimaca). It was hard to miss the ones in the pool, but the ones on the beach were also pretty quiet. The ones in the pool we not much louder than children playing.

Thank you. I always forget that CBR tends to be a resort where sports teams, cheerleaders etc stay. We last stayed there during spring break 4 years ago and we encountered baseball, lacrosse and dance teams. It wasn't bad although the food court got very crowded and loud at times. Sometimes the quiet pool in our "village" was taken over by the teams.

After a whole bunch of worrying and stressing, I am now home from one of my most magical trips yet! I had started second guessing a lot of my choices. " CBR was due for a rehab, Mama Melrose was an awful place to eat, FP+ was going to ruin the trip" Those were the posts that kept appearing leading up to my trip. All wrong! Everything was great!

Anyways, not to stray too far off topic - CBR, I had booked a king bed, requested a corner room. We ended up in Jamaica Building 46, room 4664. We landed at 9 am and made it to the resort by 10 am, and our room was ready! The room was beautiful. I would never guess this resort was due for a rehab. I love the white linens with the splash of color on the beds. When I went to put away my clothes, there was a bathing suit still in the dresser. I popped my head out of the room, and saw a cast member and gave it to them. Other than that the room was spotless. We had a 4 minute walk to Old Port Royale over the bridge. Less than 2 minutes to a bus stop.

Speaking of buses we had a 25 minute wait for one Downtown Disney bus, otherwise we waited less than 5 minutes the entire trip. Pure luck I know. A quick word of caution at Magic Kingdom, with the new stops open, CBR is stop 32. Only Art of Animation had a further walk. Its probably not as long as it seems, but when you just spent the entire day at MK, it seems like miles. There are complimentary wheel chairs if anyone needs them.

Dinner at Shutter's was amazing. The Habenero Brown Sugar wings were some of the best I ever had. I had a Strip steak and my husband had a braised short rib dish.

For anyone looking for alternate food options, I noticed several people getting gluten free pancakes at the same station that regular pancakes are located.

Thanks for the review! I'm glad that you had a great stay. I'm anxious to get back to our home away from home. Oh wait, I forgot something. I appreciate the review of Shutter's. Although we have stayed at the resort nearly a dozen times, we have yet to eat there. Maybe, I need to make it happen this next trip.

We are going for our first time in June. I am excited! I have always wanted to stay here and think we will love it.

We are going to CBR for the first time in June as well. My hubby will be disappointed about the boats, he was really looking forward to doing that!

I saw several people out on Pontoon boats, with smaller water craft at the marina. Also saw a Pirate's Cruise going on for the kids and bikes to rent as well.

:wave2: I've been stalking this site for a while now, thought I'd finally start posting.

We're also staying at CBR in June! I'm excited, we were lucky enough to have a family member that's a CM and got a great discount. This will be our first visit to Disney with our kids (DD 9, DS 7).

I noticed while scanning prices that the hotel is sold out of double bedrooms for our stay dates (17-25), all that's available is kings. I wonder if that has to do with the refurb or it's always full in June??

Thanks for the review, Laurie! We are dying for our vacation time to come and this review just revved up the excitement!

The first night there were a LOT of cheerleaders in the food court, but I didn't hear a peep out of them otherwise. The resort's so big you'll be fine. We found it to be lovely and quiet!

When are you going? Two major All Star Cheer events are coming up next month into May. Most cheerleaders stay at the All Star Sports, with over flow to the other All Stars and then to CBR. Practices generally take place only at the All Star Sports for these two events. We will be there for The Summit May 3 & 4. But we chose to stay at CBR knowing that even with the over flow, it will be generally quiet. The competition happen at ESPN World and Worlds and Summit have 'Celebration parties' on one night in a park. For Summit, it is the Sunday night at Hollywood Studios, so the park will close at night and be open to only the cheerleaders that bought special tickets.
There is also an All Star Cheer event this month, I think, UCA/UDA. Same idea as Worlds and Summit - most at AS resorts, moth practice at AS Sports.

hi all, are the pirate cruises extra? is there a age limit i have 2 boys one that will be 7 and one 13?

They have 4-12 on the site for age. It cost I think about $35 per child and includes a lunch/snack..bandanna and "booty" they find. My daughter has done it twice and had a fantastic time

Just got back early this a.m.
CBR is nice but huge, got upgraded from a standard to a pirate room in Trinidad south.

Wish I would have had a car for the entire trip instead of 3 days in the middle. The 10 minute walk back and forth to Old Port Royale and the extensive bus wait at the resort were a downer.

The main pool was really nice with an awesome kids pool.(both could have been warmer)

Food court was fair at best. Breakfast snack options got beat up early every day and not replaced. Dimly lit and standard food court stuff.

All in all it was a good trip. Will not do CBR again though. Our whole family agreed that POP is better fit for us, with a much more vibrant and alive feel.

Will elaborate more on FP+ and our food reviews in our trip report , but thought this might help in someone's decision making process.

Hi all! I stayed at CBR during the marathon weekend for 3 nights with my family and had a great time there. When we checked us in, they originally had us in one of the buildings farthest away, but after asking to switch to Jamaica (46 I think- the close one) we were accommodated and got to keep a ground floor room, too (which is what we wanted with our kids (5 and 3). It was a very quick and nice walk over the bridge to the food court and main pool. Our kids LOVED the splash pool and my 5 year old daughter also liked the big pool a lot too. That was all they wanted to do - go swimming! I know the food court seems to get a lot of bad reviews but we liked the things that we got there, although we didn't have a chance to eat there too many times. We had some chocolate croissants on our last day that were SO good - wish I could have one right now! We only rode the bus once since we had a car rented (we were at a condo for the first part of our trip and needed the car) but didn't wait at all for the bus that one time. We did wait a while on our way back from the MK, but there didn't seem to many buses coming for any resorts at that time. I have to say that having experienced WDW with and without a car, I prefer to have a car, but it probably isn't necessary. Although, my kids liked the bus rides more than taking the car. :) Our room was fine, but it did have a little musty smell. I've had that same smell at other WDW rooms too... But it didn't bug us; and my kids and I have allergies and we were all fine. I can see how others might be bothered by it. Anyway, we all really enjoyed the resort for our first time there and are planning on returning there this September!! Yay!
