I apologize if this has been asked and answered several times before, but with all of these pages, I haven't completely made it through and you never know what questions people might be asking. Most hotels have them, but just in case things are different here, do the bathrooms in the rooms have fans, and if so, are they connected to the lights? The reason for the question is that I prefer the fan noise while sleeping, and I'm wondering if I'd have to leave a bathroom light on for that or bring my own fan? I usually use an air purifier at home because I'm allergic to dogs and have two of them, and I've discovered that I have a hard time sleeping without that sound any more. Thank you in advance! :)

I dont remember what the bathroom fan/light set up is. However, there is a ceiling fan as well as the AC/heat unit can be turned on to "fan" only

Oh! I don't know how I missed there being a ceiling fan. :) Thanks! I tend to get on the cold side with A/C, even when it's hot outside, so it's good to know that there are other options!

We bring a sound machine with us in our suitcase. It's not too big and boy, does it ever help!!!!

Hey, don't I know you? ;)

You do what you think is best for your family and take this with a grain of salt... but if I had to do it over again, I would book a standard room just like before. We were in Jamaica 45 and it was such a quick and pretty walk over to OPR that I personally would never pay the difference for preferred. We really looked forward to our walks over the bridge each day. And this is coming from someone who wants their room to be about 2 feet away from the food court and pool b/c I hate to do a lot of resort walking after the parks have worn me out. Now, having said that, there is never a guarantee that you will get the section you request, so you do have to be willing to take that chance. But if your October trip has the low crowds like mine did, I think you will be able to get what you want.

I would say that the only advantages of staying in Martinique are that you are close to OPR and the OPR bus stop, and you have a great view of Illuminations there. In Jamaica 45, we were right next to the bridge that leads to OPR, but we had a bit of a walk to the bus stop each day. And the night we watched Illuminations from CBR, we had to cross the bridge to see them, so if you were staying in Martinique, you could just watch them from your beach.

All this is just my two cents worth though. And that is truly all it's worth!

Hey, I do know you! Thanks for the thoughts Rinky. The reason I am leaning towards a preferred location is that I am going to be traveling alone with Morghan. I just want to be close to it all since it's just her and I. :goodvibes

Do you mean for security reasons? If so, I totally get that and don't blame you a bit.

I can relate. I went out for a walk pretty early one morning by myself to take pictures and felt very uncomfortable crossing the bridge/island area. There was no one around that made me feel that way, but it just seemed really secluded at that time of day when it was still a little dark. I didn't think about it much until I got on the island and then my imagination started to run wild. I really thought the boogie man was going to jump out of the bushes and get me before I could get back to the room! I laugh now... but I am being serious! :upsidedow

I've read about so many people bringing sound machines - but what are these??? I travel all the time and some of the clocks have waves or something like that, but those noises bother me. My work has 'white noise' - is that what you bring? Where do you get a noise machine? Thanks!

Here's a link. We find that a steady white noise drowns out any inconsistent noises like people talking, doors slamming, etc... I can't sleep without it anymore! http://www.soundmachinesdirect.com/

We are twins! I would have felt the same way.

Both my toddler son and I sleep with a sound machine. I've found that if you need it and forget it, or just don't have one, if the clock has a radio on it, you can set it to static between stations and turn the volume to whatever you like. I've done this before and it works pretty well.

I work night shift, so always use a white noise machine to drown out daytime noises, so I can sleep. I have forgotten it before when I went to WDW and even though I was exhausted at night couldn't sleep. Between not having my precious white noise and trying to change my normal sleep patterns, I was exhausted by the end of the week.:rotfl: I hadn't thought about using radio static as a substitute. Thanks!

Hello! We are 5 trip veterans to POR, and I feel the need to try a new Mod. I had no idea that CBR redid the pool and had Nemo-themed rooms. Saw the pics for the little splash playground, and we're totally sold! Anyone else come from loving POR to falling in love with CBR?

I've always avoided CBR, because it seems to get more bad reviews that PO or CSR. Has that changed?
Thanks!

I have stayed at both POR and CBR and my family really prefers CBR. We enjoyed POR and would have no problems staying there again if we couldn't get CBR.

We like the Food Court better in CBR. Not a huge difference, but we really like the way it is laid out. Makes for splitting up to each get what we want and meet in the middle to check out.

The main pool at CBR is awesome! If you have little ones, the zero depth/splash area is wonderful.

The Nemo theme is great because it is kind of low key and not over the top.

CBR still gets some bad reviews. But I have found that the majority of them are from people who feel the resort is too big. Yes, it's spread out but that is one of the things we love about it. Even at full capacity, you don't feel like you are on top of others. It is so peaceful and laid back. It really does feel like you are on a tropical vacation which is a welcome change to the craziness of the parks. Even if you are at the farthest room from OPR and the Main Pool, it is an 8 minute leisurely walk. Most other non-preferred locations are under 5 minutes.

Also people have an issue with the fact that there is a bus stop for each Village. Again, we feel that this is a plus because there is never a huge mass of people at the bus stop. Even if you are the first stop picked up, you will be leaving CBR property in less than 10 minutes.

I have also read random issues with a room being dirty, broken shower, etc. But you can find those for even the Poly or GF if you look.
