Ugh a review like this makes me want to change to CBR. We picked POFQ I think it is beacuse we are use to it. We have stayed at POR and CSR but the slides are to intense for my girls right now. POFQ has a pretty lame slide for my girls. LOL The only mod we haven't tried is CBR. My main concern is we are on the QSDP and will be using the food court daily. SO we need some varitey. The walking don't really bother me we have stayed at SSR and that was a hike to the food court but it was managable.

After staying at POP for the past 2 trips we are done with the values. My girls are getting a bit older and there is a diffrence in room size.

There was much more variety at the food court than I expected. We only ate at the food court twice and both times DH and I pretty much go the same thing, but that's because we both really liked what we got. There wasn't quite as much variety as at Pop Century, but there were still at least 4-6 adult choices at station.

I am liking the review ! Thank you!

Not sure where we'll end up as far as room location. But sounds like anywhere may be good? ! :goodvibes

There are some rooms that are a little more remote but to us nothing seemed like a terrible walk and the resort is so beautiful. The bridge on Caribbean Cay cuts right through the middle and it doesn't take long to walk across either.

We really enjoyed it. I'm thinking of trying POR next because I want to try some of the other resorts, but every time I say that my DD yells that she wants to go back to CBR and either stay in Barbados or in a pirate room.

I have to say, we've always found the food court to have lots of variety and choices. We've stayed at POP and we actually like the CBR food court better.

Hi Everyone!

We just booked a short trip in April (4 - 8th) and are staying at CBR. We have reserved a pirate room with a water view for the 4 of us. We will be driving down from Atlanta.

I am a bit worried having read the first few pages of this thread though. Does anyone know what the bus situation will be like at this time? Do we just need to set aside $$ for parking at the resorts and avoid the buses altogether?
Are these rooms too far from everything?

I am quickly becoming overwhelmed. We have been doing our main vacations on the Disney Magic for the past few years and have gotten out of practice for a land vacation. (planning on a cruise is fish extender gifts and door magnets - not buses...)

Any hints/advice would be appreciated!!

Thanks!
Sue

The buses are what the buses are. They run, on average, every 20 minutes or so to each destination ... sometimes more often, rarely less often. To me, the Disney Transport system is one of the best parts of my vacation ... there is no other time in my life when I can NOT drive for a week, and I enjoy it. But if you're the type of person who will feel frustrated standing and waiting for a bus for 10 minutes, then you're better off driving.

As a Disney resort guest, you can park your car at the Disney parks for free ... you will not have to pay a parking fee to drive your car to any of the parks. Same for parking at the other resorts (but at the other resorts there still is a 3 hour time limit whether you're a guest at another Disney resort or not).

The Pirate rooms are the farthest away of all the rooms from Old Port Royale. It's maybe a 7-to-10 minute walk to Old Port Royale. Some people see that as freeing and nice. Some people see it as a death march. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks, my kids are 6 and 13 so that is why the worry... :) I can deal with the walk and the wait, but if the kids get antsy then i get frustrated... Sounds like we will just need to plan accordingly!

Has anyone stayed in the Pirate rooms? I saw earlier on another thread that the beds are horrible because it is just a pillowtop on top of the box springs. They even posted pictures. Did they change the bed or are they still like that?

Thanks!

I totally agree! I keep a book with pencils or crayons and some snacks in my bag for DD if she wants something to keep her busy while we wait. (usually she doesn't, we talk about what we've done and what we're going to do)

Hi everyone,
We leave for our first WDW trip 5 weeks from today! We saw a commercial last night for the Feb-Apr discounts on vacations and immediatly switched from ASMo to CBR for only $80 more! I was just wondering where the Nemo themed rooms are. Do they cost extra or are they normal rooms? Thanks and this thread is awesome!

The Nemo Rooms are the regular rooms. They don't cost extra unless you are booking a preferred location or water view. The pirate rooms are only in Trinidad South and they are extra.

Is there is such a thing?

Yes and no...you cannot book a king preferred but what we did was book a king bed since that is most important to us and request a preferred location.

THis worked great on our Nov 10 trip and we did get our king bed and a second floor preferred location...it was awesome! Trinidad North building 33 right by the bus stop

I plan on doing the same thing for our Oct trip

:headache:

Awesome! Thanks! Does amyone know what building the Nemo rooms are in?

Like was already said, they are the REGULAR rooms. It's not like there are special Nemo rooms.

CBR has 2,112 guest rooms in 33 guest buildings. 384 of those 2,112 are Pirate themed rooms; all of the Pirate rooms are in the Trinidad South village, and all of the rooms in Trinidad South are Pirate rooms. Pirate rooms are a separate booking category, they cost more per night than regular rooms. ALL of the other 1,728 guest rooms are so-called "Nemo" rooms.

Again, the Nemo rooms are just the normal rooms that everyone gets. It's only a very slight Nemo motif ... a couple characters on the wall border (along the tops of the walls) and a couple characters on the bedspreads.

In other words, you can't request a Nemo room because all the rooms (except the Pirate rooms) ARE Nemo rooms.

Thanks for clarifying that. I am new to WDW as well as CBR so thatnks for your patience and expertise.

Going Back in June! Can't wait! This will be our first stay at CBR. My youngest wants to stay in the pirate room's. I didn't tell him that is what we booked. I like to surprise the kids when I can. ;)

I think I've seen the picture, and yes it's like that, but it's not as bad as it seems. We found the beds to be rather comfy. I figure that it's a situation caused by the pirate-ship bedframes...

Still not sure if we are going to do the Garden Grocer order or not... I am sure it is easy to do their minimum $40 order! It is just we get in late that first night and then we have bibbity bobitty booked at the MK for 10:30 and they want a 2 hour window... PLUS we are switching rooms.... UGH.
I keep checking and calling for a preferred for that first night but it just never seems to open up. Lots of Pirate rooms available....;)

Don't worry about getting in late. I wasn't getting in until about 11pm last year. We placed our order with GG and requested the latest delivery window (I believe 7-9pm). Well...they called my cell phone about 4 in the afternoon to tell me that they had another delivery for CBR, so they were delivering our stuff as well. Only thing was, we were still in NY, in our car, on the Long Island Expressway heading for the airport. Bell servcices will take the delivery and hold everything for you (they have a fridge, so no worries) until you check in. Just make sure they get everything for you. It wasn't until we were in our room that we realized bell services forgot our refrigerated items. I called them up and they brought the rest of the items to our room a little while later.
