Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Can anyone tell me on average how long it takes to get to the MK from CBR? I believe there are 7 stops which seems like alot and I imagine the buses are very packed. I am taking my wife and two kids (4 and 2) and just want to make sure they won't be standing on every bus ride. Would also love to know how long it takes to get to the other parks from CBR and from the parks back to the CBR. It just seems the CSR could be a better option because of the bus times. Please inform and thank you:) We will be going in either late August or early September.

We just returned from a fabulous week at CBR. The only other Disney resorts I have stayed in are WL and CSR, and I much preferred CBR over the other two. Bed bugs? No sign of them, our room was quite clean. Location was Martinique 22. Great location - right next to the beach, the quiet pool and laundry, and a short walk to OPR. Although we faced the parking lot, it wasn't too visible due to lovely landscaping, as opposed to Ranchos at CBR where we faced the parking lot, and our view was... the parking lot. We found great variety at the food court, but on the QSDP did not try Shutters. The kids loved the pool, Caribbean Cay, and we enjoyed watching the fireworks from the beach and riding surry bikes around the lake. I would not hesitate to go back to this lovely resort. I think water view at CBR would mean view of the lake, as it looked like all the pools are right on the path alongside the lake. So, if you can see the pool, you should also be able to see the lake.

Oh, bus times. We were one of the first stops, and so at times it took up to 10 minutes to get out of the resort. The rides to Epcot or DHS were less than 10 minutes once we left the resort. To MK probably about 15 minutes, and AK a minute or two more. Waits were never more than 20 minutes, but probably averaged less than 10.

Actually we have found CBR to be the most centrally located of all the resorts we have stayed at -- CBR, CSR, POR, POFQ, OKW.

Once the bus leaves CBR it takes 3 minutes to get to DHS, 5 to Epcot, 9 to DTD, and 11 to AK & MK.

The amount of time spent on the bus before it leaves the resort depends on which stop you are closest to and where the bus started. Some start in Jamaica and some in Martinique. IF you would happen to get on at the very first stop, it takes about 8 minutes to make all the stops before leaving the resort. Not bad!

We don't usually have to stand on the buses. The last time we stayed at CBR we had to stand one time all week. And our average wait time for a bus was about 5 minutes! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear it! After looking at everyones pictures and reviews I am glad we got CBR. My dd is excited about the pool and we are soo excited. We stayed in a value last Oct. and after staying at a Mod. a few months before it just wasn't the same. Can't wait to hear more about CBR and see pictures! :goodvibes

We'll be staying at CBR in June and have requested a preferred room in Martinique. Any idea how convenient OPR is to run get milk or things like that in the morning?

Can you get anything bigger than a full sized bed? Is that extra? Does CBR have rollaways?

They have King bed rooms, but they are an extra $28.12/night. Don't know about roll aways for sure, but I believe all the resorts have them.

Have you just requested a preferred room or paid for a preferred room? OPR is just a quick walk away.

We are booked for april 11th to 18th in a preferred room? My wife will be 5 months pregnant when we go so I want to request first floor. Do I call the resort or the reservation line to do this? Also, is the temp usually warm enough in april to go to the water parks? Right now I have that option on our tickets but we can live without if need be?

Thanks!

Have your request for a first floor room noted on your reservation. Even at check-in, the CM's will do everything they can to accomodate your request. It is just a request, though, but they do try.

We've been several times during spring break (March/April) and went to the water parks each time -- it was great for us, because we're from Ohio so it felt really warm!!:cool1:

It should be warm enough for the water parks, but you might want to rethink it if your wife is going to be 5 months pregnant - she won't be able to ride any of the slides.

As MusicMouse already pointed out, I would skip the waterparks this time with the pregnancy and all. CBR has a great themepool to enjoy and for a nice quite time you can always use one of the multiple quite pools at each village.

As far as the request; you need to call CRO. When you are 'calling the resort', you aren't actually calling the resort but a general switchboard. Doesn't help too much for requests.

Have fun! :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for the replies and info. Last year was our first trip and I spent so much time and energy into planning everything that I never really had time to get excited. Going for the second time in April is making me feel like a kid again. The whole family is super excited.

It's going to be hard to drop the water parks. Our kids are 8 and 6 and LOVED blizzard beach last year, especially the really tall slide. My wife has already accepted that she can't do as much this year so we are really just going to make sure the boys do what they want.

One thing we haven't signed up for yet is the pirate adventure cruise. Is it worth the money? My wife is nervous about letting the boys out of sight for any amount of time.

Thanks!

My boys did the pirate cruise last January. They were 7 & 9 and absolutely loved it! So I think it is definitely worth the money to do it! pirate: Here are some pics from their little trip ~ http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2074555&page=6

If you want you can follow the boat around and watch them the whole time - from the shore.

Let them go, and Enjoy some last-minute-before another baby comes-time! ;) I saw this Adventure on the Contempory resort-side, and they are very careful with the kids, and very helpful, and it looked like such fun! pirate: Soo cool! When would your kids EVER be able to do it again? ;)

Congrats on Baby #3! :cloud9:

Let us know what you decide! And, when the baby is born! :goodvibes

I am so excited!! Only 2 more days, and we will be at CBR!! :cool1:  (Sorry to take up the thread space or possibly being OT, but I knew you guys would understand.)

I certainly don't blame you for being excited. Make sure you take lots of pictures to come back and share with us all!
