Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Well, the way it sounds to me, the pirate ship area is the "kiddie" pool, it's not the main pool. It also sounds like if he is playing with her there and not mowing little kids down, he will be able to stay, hopefully. I can see it both ways. It is nice for the little ones to have a place of their own and not worry about the big kids running over them. On the other hand, this area looks fun for all ages.

Yes, I think it is a misconception (simply because some people say it) on the boards that the pirate ship children's pool is the main pool. It is not. It is next to, but not part of the main pool. The children's pool is fenced off and like I said, next to the main pool. It is very nice and a lot of fun. The fence is kind of in a circle around the pool with plenty of room and there are lounge chairs lined up all around it too. Apparently there is a sign with a height restriction of 48 inches. We never saw it. My DS10 was in the pool and he is over 48 inches. We had no problems. There were kids taller than him in there too, as well as parents. I think as long as everybody is behaving themselves and it is not getting over crowded there won't be any issues.

The main pool is next to it and has zero entry in one section and has 2 slides - one open & shorter and the other longer & enclosed. Everyone is allowed in this pool.

Not sure if anyone knows what type of beds they have at Caribbean Beach Resort but my mom loved them last year and actually would like to buy one. If no one knows, is there a resource where I could find this info out?

When I read trinidad south has its own bus stop what does that mean? It doesn't share it with any other stops at the resort? Will I have to wait longer then?

Each village has it's own bus stop. Every bus stops at each village before leaving the resort for it's destination.

Here are two pics of the kiddie pool, so you have some idea of what it looks like and the size it's geared toward:

This one was taken from directly across the main pool, so you can see where it's positioned:

This one was taken as a close up of the kiddie pool, but you can see the fence around it that separates it from the main pool:

When we were at WDW earlier this year, we had a brochure in our room that had information about the bedding (mattresses, sheets, etc.) for purchasing. I didn't look at it too closely, but I'm guessing it probably had a phone number, web address, or someway to get more info.

I realize that's not much help, but I did want to mention that I am pretty sure that you can find out and buy what they use. Anyone else see these brochures?

Can you all just help me decide which village to pick! :confused3

Important to us:
  • We don't want to be the last ones picked up on the bus since we are going in busy June and would cry if a full bus just kept passing us by every morning while trying to get to the parks :sad1:
  • We would like to be somewhat close to the main pool. Don't mind walking 5-6 minutes to the main pool. But will have a 5 and 6 year old with us so it is pretty important to us to be near the Pirate pool.
  • Pirate room would be great but not if that effects the other 2 above

Thank you :worship:

The only way to be guaranteed a certain location is to book a pirate room (Trinidad South) or a preferred room (Martinique or Trinidad North). Anything else is just going to be a request.

The pirate rooms are going to give you about a 6-8 minute walk to OPR, depending on which building you get in that section.

A preferred room will get you a room right on either side of OPR. Very little walking.

All the standard rooms will be within the 5-6 minute walk that you say will be okay. We have been in Aruba once and Jamaica once - both were under 5 minutes to OPR.

I wouldn't worry about the buses. Not all of the buses start in the same village. Some start in Martinique, some in Jamaica, so you will never always be first or last to load. We have always experienced great bus service at CBR.

Good luck!

I called down to the hotel for info and was connected to mousekeeping. The lady told me Sealie posturpedic (sp??). I asked for a model or bed style but she didn't know of such a thing. I am thinking that this bed style is a line and there are different models within that name. Can anyone confirm this and/or what the exact model name or number is? Thanks!

Hi, Momof2Disneyboys and PrincessKsMom thank you very much for the pictures. This completely clarified the whole pool issue for me. I was confused and beginning to think that the entire main theme pool was a kiddie pool, and now I can see that is not so. Both of my kids (15 turning 16 while we are there and 7) would swim in the large pool, but I know that both would also enjoy a good water dump on them. Thank you very much for sharing the pictures! :thumbsup2

I have been trying to decide between CBR and CSR for our trip in May 2010. We stayed at POFQ last May, and loved it, but want to try somehere different this time. I'm leaning toward CBR because of the Pirate rooms - its me, dh and ds6. We probably won't be back for a few more years, so figure we should let him have his choice while he's young enough to get a kick out of the pirate theming. I haven't read through this whole thread yet, does anyone have a link to where there are good pics of the pirate rooms ? I'm sure if I go far enough back I'll find them :) Our last trip was the first time ds and dh had been to Disney - I had been a couple of times 20 years ago. We were there for the rainiest week ever - we're going back the same week next year, so hoping for better weather !

Just got back from a great stay at CBR, reinforcing once again that it is my favorite resort at WDW. We left the room selection to chance this time since it was just me and my mom, no kids this time. We were in Barbados 15, and it was great. Very close to the quiet pool, the beach (with the wonderful hammocks), and only a 5 minute stroll to OPR. We were in Martinique last year with the kids, so it was the same beach, just another minute or two away from OPR.

I'm booked for April next year, just me and my oldest child, for his birthday, staying at Trinidad south in a Pirate room (I'm planning everything pirate for this birthday...Pirate League, Pirate Room, maybe a Pirate cruise, picked up a beach towel, luggage tag and some cute stationary in the CBR pirate theme this trip). Didn't walk it, but is it significantly longer from Trinidad South to OPR and the main pool? We will probably rent a car, so can drive up if we have to, but I always liked the walk. We just found the weather (unseasonably hot and humid for us Canadians) was a bit much for walking, and I'm worried the end of April/beginning of May will be just as hot.

Any other questions I can answer, just ask away!

I'm glad to hear that you had a great stay at the CBR. We love it so much that we're booked to go back for the 5th time in 2010.

We haven't stayed in a pirate room but I did walk the entire resort during our stay. I went over to Trinidad South to get a peak of the pirate rooms. I timed my walk from Trinidad South to Old Port Royale and it took me 6 1/2 minutes and that was at a leisurely pace.

Hi,

My family and I are heading to CBR over the winter during the 4 for get 3 free promo and I was wondering if it is worth paying the extra $100 to get a preferred room over a standard. I know it is obviously a matter of opinion but I was wondering what some of your opinions were?

We are staying for the 7 nights and plan on eating at the food court probably 3 or 4 times total. We will have our own car but will probably use Disney transportation for the most part.
