Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

I've asked over on the restaurant boards but was wondering if anyone had been to Shutter's for dinner lately? Looking for reviews and/or pictures. We want to spend an evening at the resort but still have a sit down meal.

No elevators. We put in a request for my mom in August at CBR because she had double knee replacement and it is hard for her to do steps. They wrote on our reservation medical need and put 1st floor. We not only got a first floor but they put us in a preferred room at Martinique 24!

I apologize if this has been asked before but does anyone know the order of the bus stops at CBR? I have read in different places that Jamaica is first and Barbados is last but by looking at the map it doesn't seem to make sense based on the entry points...:confused3

EDIT... just found the info here

http://www3.zansstuff.com/CBRBusMap.jpg

makes total sense now, Barbados is NOT last..'at least not most of the time.

We just returned from 6 nights at Caribbean Beach. We had a great time in our Pirate Room in Trinidad South. We were in building 36, which was very close to the bus stop. pirate:

We really enjoyed the pool but I wanted to let those of you who have upcoming trips and want to use the Children's special play area and the water slides that they are only open from 10am - 8 pm. The gate around the ship was locked and the slides are also gated off. You can swim in the pool and use the hot tub though. We saw the fireworks from Illuminations from the pool area.

Trinidad South was almost always the last bus stop each evening, and one morning while trying to get to our 8:05am ADR two Magic Kingdom buses passed us by without stopping. I mentioned it to the next bus that stopped and she said "don't disappear" a bus finally pulled up shortly after she left.

Dreamer & Wisher...thanks for the info...we are headed there in 2 1/2 weeks and we are staying in a pirate room, too! Thanks for the pool info! ALSO, and especially the bus info! We will have to time our early ADR's extra early so we make sure we can get there on time!

Hello all! I'm new here and just read about 60 pages of this thread. Starting to go cross-eyed, so will come back another time and read the rest.

We've booked our 2nd family trip to WDW, we'll be staying at CBR from March 13-20, 2010. Our last stay was in 2007 at Pop Century.

A couple quick questions:

• We've booked a pirate theme room which I understand to be in Trinidad South. Is it worth it to request a specific building (like 34 or 35) to be closer to OPR?
• We have the DDP but I'm considering getting groceries from Garden Grocer to have breakfast items (milk, yogurt, fruit) and some healthy snacks (more fresh fruit, fresh veggies). Is Garden Grocer my best bet or is there someplace on Disney property that I can purchase those things without paying an arm & a leg?
• This is not resort-specific but when we go our kids will be 7 and 5. Am I nuts to not bring a stroller? Last time we had to bring the double stroller as the kiddos were 4 and 22 months. Would love to not have to lug around a stroller, but worried about tired little legs.

Thanks in advance for any advice! My DS's b-day is 4 days before we leave and he's having a pirate-themed party and is soooooooo super-excited about our room at Disney being pirate as well.

We have CBR at the top of our very short list now. :woohoo:

I just read in Tripadvisor (I know, very subjective) that the CBR bus stops at the parks, place CBR last after the values. Is this true? That makes no sense. Is the line up the same at each park? We have only stayed at POR and only remember that it seemed like GF was always
closest

I dont mind the walking, just curious. I'm just happy there are queues at the parks, as POR heading out was a bit of a free for all.

The CBR bus stops at the parks aren't ALL the last stop. When we were at Epcot, the CBR stop was stop 10. At Magic Kingdim, it was stop 16 which was the next to last stop. I can't remember which stop we were at Hollywood Studios but it was close to the front of the park. At Animal Kingdom, it was pretty far down but I don't think it was the furthest stop.

To us, the walk wasn't that bad.

I wouldn't say they were the last bus stops. They just aren't the closest:lmao:

I agree with Previous Poster that at Magic Kingdom it is #16, Epcot was #10 (which was really far)

At Animal Kingdom we got on the bus at #5 and at Disney's Hollywood Studios we got on at bus stop #7.

Each day we left the park at closing and we waited a considerable time for a bus. Animal Kingdom had the shortest wait.

We used Garden Grocer on our last trip and it worked out very well for us. The delivery charge was well worth what we saved as the groceries at the on site locations are expensive. If you plan on bringing bottled water into the parks then the price of a case of water more than offset the delivery fee alone.

We are heading down with our kids (5 & 3) and we will probably bring the stroller on the days we plan on spending more time in the park. On days we will be heading back for naps we will leave it at the hotel.

Thanks for the info. We wouldn't be buying bottled water, all 4 of us have stainless steel insulated water bottles that we plan on using and just refilling at water fountains in the parks.

Has anyone used Garden Grocer for fresh produce and was it good quality? We eat a TON of fruits and veggies and I'd love to have some on-hand in our room.

Ummm, I personally would never fill a bottle from a water fountain. That's how I got what my doc called "traveler's disease"...involved lots of diarrhea and racing pulse until I got antibiotics. He said it's fairly common from drinking fountains like that. Maybe warmer climates are worse? Otherwise I totally applaud the ecological concept. :thumbsup2

CBR is where my family stays most of the time. I love it there!! the colors are vibrant 7 gives a great energy. I think its just as nice as some of the deluxe resorts. Ur pix are great! I love the flamingo, u could make them post cards!! I

Of course, maybe you meant at the soda fountain stands. I imagine that would be a lot safer.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you!

We've been filling our water bottles at both soda fountain machines and drinking fountains for years and (knock on wood) never had an issue. I'm wondering how it would be "catchy"? We don't touch the spout, just catch the water in the bottles.

Would we be allowed to fill our bottles with water at soda fountains for free at quick service places? I drink loads of water (at least 150 oz a day) so will need to refill my 24 oz bottle numerous times throughout the day.

For sanitary reasons, they won't fill your container at the counter-service locations, but they will give you a cup of water or ice water at no charge, and then you can simply pour it into your own container.

Fruit was excellent! Haven't tried any veggies. GG service was great, too! :thumbsup2

No offense, but if you're ordering from GG, I might reconsider ordering bottled water. The fountain water is less than ideal - not even considering the illness Rosanne had. It just tastes yucky. I would buy the bottled and refill with that. JMHO!

On top of that, Disney water doesn't taste very good!

I agree with other posters...because of the climate the water has a lot of chemicals in it to kill the bacteria and you can taste it. I never had a problem drinking from the fountains but the water taste gross. If you listen to the podcast at all they actually make mention of it every once in a while
