Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Can anyone tell me what time the concierge desk is open at OPR? We have a room only ressie on 8/15, and our Free Dining Package begins on 8/16. We have an ADR at Tusker House at AK on 8/16 at 9:00 am. We will need to have new KTTW cards reissued in the morning on the 16th, so I need to get them as soon as possible. I'm trying to see if I can get them at OPR's Concierge desk or if I will need to go to the Custom House.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

I've been trying to remember if I noticed what time they were there in the morning last month... I just can't recall. Honestly, just to be sure, I'd plan a trip to the Custom House just to be safe. Safetymom may know the real answer to this, though.

I'm not sure about CBR but at Pop when switching reservations you can't do it at the concierge. I've tried before and they only time it worked was New Years day (but they had a special sign up for it) Because technically you are checking in and out again, and might be assigned a new room.

I agree with CharacterFan's answer ... you can't check-in at the concierge desk. That is strictly for "help," but not for checking-in and checking-out of the resort. And what you will need to do on the morning of 8/16 is check-in to the resort for your package reservation. You need to do that at the front desk, not at the concierge, so you will NEED to go to the Custom House. Hate to give you bad news, but I want you to have the facts. :goodvibes

Thank you, I will just plan on going to the Custom House that morning and let DH get the kids up and moving.

I am so excited!!!:cool1: I just re booked our stay to be at CBR for the entire trip(8nighs). We were origianl going to stay two nights at POP,three nights at Hard rock at univiversal and then the final three nights at CBR.
So we are just doing the standard room here,we do not mind the walk and love the ambience of the resort areas. So If there was a building that offered maybe the nicest walk, maybe the closet of the standard building, closet to the main pool or just the the most pleasent surroundings?,any advice? thanks

The "standard" buildings closest to Old Port Royale are Jamaica 45, Aruba 51, and Martinique 22.

I am curious about this, too. Is there much (or any) difference in walking time between Martinique 22 and OPR vs. Jamaica 45 and OPR? :confused3

Not a lot, but with Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 you would cross the bridge and island to get to OPR, and from Martinique 22 you'd take the sidewalks. The island is beautiful, but then again the whole resort is.:thumbsup2

Can someone tell me about the internet connections in the room? Do you pay extra? Also, is there a business center where I could receive a fax if I needed to or use a computer there to get an internet connection if I needed to?

The cost is 9.95 for 24 hours. No business center but you can have a fax sent to the front desk. There are business centers at several of the convention hotels.

I am taking a solo trip to CBR in October for free dining/MNSSHP/Food and Wine Festival. What is the best bus stop/typically first one?

I do remember when we stayed in Jamaica that it was the first stop on and off for Epcot and DHS.
I don't remember what stop number Jamaica was for the other parks. Last year I was in Barbados solo and I really never had an issue with the bus stop there either. The trip around the resort was no big deal.

I am wondering if anyone who has recently been to Caribbean Beach has written a review of the food court and the sit down restaurant (Shutters)?

I posted on the restaurant board but didn't get much information.

I would love to see pictures of the current menus and food items eaten but I don't see any reviews on the Review board either.

Anyone out there have some photos of food at the resort? Are there any Caribbean specialties available in the food court? It is almost time for us to make our ADR's so I am looking for information.

I know that I just saw some pictures of the food at the CBR food court on the Disney Food Pictures thread. Have you asked your question on that thread? I've gotten several responses to my restaurant questions there.
