Hello All! Me, my wife and two daughters (5 and 7) will be travelling to Disney World and staying at the CBR on August 26 - Sept 2. This will be our first trip to Disney World as a family. We are very excited! We are also excited to be staying at the CBR!
Now I have booked our trip, but I was wondering if it was worth calling ahead to see if I can try and get a room in a certain area within CBR? Can this be done? Have others tried calling ahead and had success? I have signed up for a Standard view room.
My girls are soooo excited after seeing pictures of the pool. I would love to stay in an area close to the main pirate pool, a bus stop, food, beach access and a good view of the Illuminations fireworks. Am I missing anything? Hah! Now this may sound like alot but I figured it would be worth asking here since you all seem very helpful. I look forward to any and all of your suggestions.
Also, please let me know of any good tips you might have for CBR Noobies!
Thanks for your time!

We stayed at CBR the first week in June. When we made initial reservations, we only requested connecting rooms. We called in a month later and requested Jamaica or Aruba. We did not request a section. Two days prior to arrival, I did online check in (to expedite the check in process).
Upon arrival, I went to pick up my packet and and was pleasantly suprised to see that we got Jamaica 45. There are several buildings in Jamaica (as with all the countries at CBR) and Jamaica 45 is the closest to the bridge to Old Port Royale. We also got our connecting room. Jamaica has its own beach, its own swimming pool (although the main pool is much better), and a little playground area on the beach. I think all the countries have their own pools and stuff. But, Jamaica is the closest to the bridge without the noise and walking traffic. Also, the bus stop was right across the parking lot. The Jamaica bus stop was the first stop for the disney busses returning to CBR from the parks (at least the week we were there).
My suggestion...call in and add the request to your Reservation that you want Jamaica 45 and you want a corner room. We had 4502 and our friends had 4501. 4501 is a corner room on the first floor...and it had two windows and was so much lighter (with the natural light) than 4502. I think the unofficial guide also recommends to get corner rooms.
While there is no guarantee...they do try to get you what you want.
Have a great time.
