We'll be staying at CB the week of May 19th.

Does anyone know if there are any "preferred" rooms for those with special needs. And if so...........do you know their location ?

thank you

Could you clarify your question for me?

Do you want a handicap accessible room?

Do you want a handicap accessible room in a preferred building (paying for a preferred room)?

Do you want a standard room that is close to bus/dining/main building for someone with mobility issues, but don't want to pay for a preferred room?

The answer to these questions will help us determine your possible room/building advice.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I'm basically wondering about which would be better a "preferred or standard" room.

Our group of 4 adults........1 with a ECV, the other 2 have mobility issues. I am trying to make the best choice for them that is close to bus/dining/main building.

The 2 with mobility issues are mainly due to difficulty with long term walking. So, trying to decide accomadations that would be easiest for them. I've tried to talk them into renting EVC's. Maybe after the first day they'll be able to see if they need to or not. I just thought that at the end of the day, whatever would make it easiest for them.

Thanks for any help you can suggest

Thanks for clarifyig.

Either will work. Now wasnt that a big help:lmao::lmao:

But really. Preferred rooms cost more precisely because they are closest to the main building/dining/theme pool. So less walking. Not a factor for your group member on the ECV.

I have mobility issues that require me to use a W/c in the parks (DH says its the only time that HE gets to push ME around:rotfl2::rotfl2:). However I'm ambulatory with a cane elsewhere. We check out the maps of whichever resort we're going to (we like the variety), go to the resort threads on the Resort forum etc.

But I'll try to spare you hours of searching. Basically, if you don't want a preferred room (I'm not prepared to pay the extra $ for this), then check out the maps for the Aruba and Jamaica buildings.http://www.idhal.com/CBR/cbr.html
On our last visit there we were in bldg 51 which was connected by the bridge across the lake. I found it quite easy to walk to the food court in the morning. And at night the bus stop closest to our room was only a 1-2 minute walk.
The other building ,Jamaica 45, would be just as close.

You can make a request for either of these buildings, as well as a request for a ground floor room (because of the ECV-there are no elevators). Make your request by phone and let them know the request is for medical reasons. They won't guarantee them, but I've had my requests granted 3 times out of 4. Good luck

Thank you ! ! !

I'll check out your suggestion for Jamaica and Aruba. If close to a bus stop and on ground level for a standard room..........saving the extra money I'm sure will come in handy with dining.

thanks again........

(love your phrase of your husband "pushing you around" ....cute )

When we booked for our upcoming trip, we did not know the resort did not have elevators. Someone on this board mentioned it and I called and made it clear we needed a room on the ground floor for mobility issues. They noted it as a special needs request and told me that I would get it no matter what. I certainly hope this is true as I cannot carry a 70 lb kid up and down stairs.

Thank you.....I did as you suggested, I called and they made note that we needed a room on the ground floor for mobility issues.

Anyone stay on the 1st floor, have any issues with the noise level of the room above you ?

We stayed there last year and we were on the 2nd floor. Very quiet, couldn't even hear the room next door with the very active 4 year old (my sweet busy, nephew).
No one was underneath them to ask if they could hear any activity over their heads.

thanks again........

As you've probably guessed from my previous post, we stayed in a ground floor room. Never had an issue with noise from the room above us (no idea if it was even occupied while we were there). The only noises we ever heard was in the morning from kids thundering down the sidewalk in front of our room in the early a.m. But we were facing a courtyard, so that may have magnified the noise. And that could happen no matter where you are. Hope you have a wonderful stay.
