I confess I'm a deluxe devotee, but it's looking like we may end up here this trip. Have they renovated recently? Any tips on best location of rooms? We won't need to be near the pool area, perhaps close to food. Please tell me all the pros and cons. Many thanks.

It can be a very LONG walk to the food court, depending on which location you're in. I had requested a building close to the food court ... we ended up in Trinidad (South, I think - whichever is the farthest away from the food court). It took us so long with our preschooler to walk to the food court that we ended up driving down whenever we wanted to refill our mugs. It was kind of a pain. I did love the theming of the resort, but DH says he has no desire to ever go back there. Maybe when the kids are a little bigger so the walk isn't so draining.

Enjoy ... it really is nice to go outside and see the higher fireworks from Epcot.

We loved the CBR. Stayed in Martinique, very close to Port Royale and the main pool (the food court and main pool are in the same location). We also had a water view room and were just a few feet from the beach. It was fabulous, we could sit on the beach and see some of Illuminations (which worked well since dd was scared to death of fireworks so we never got to see it from Epcot).

I really loved CBR and it took alot for DH to convince me to try something different this time.

Haven't been recently but when I visited I stayed in Jamaica. It was just a short walk over a bridge to OPR.

CBR is a nice resort and I wouldn't mind going again, although I'd prefer POR.

We loved CBR. Definitely has a tranquil, laid-back feel to it.

As far as location goes....make sure you ask to be in either Martinique (right next to OPR) or Jamaica/Aruba (just a short walk over the bridge to OPR). Otherwise, you're looking at quite a walk to the food court.

I believe they did a total renovation of this resort in 2002 or so. They added a nice restaurant, and reorganized the layout of the food court.

Do yourself a favor....get yourself a nice table/chair near the Banana Cabana right before Illuminations begins.....and enjoy the fireworks!!

Thank you for the pics. :) Where did you get that CBR logo from?

Believe it or not, that is one of those soft rubbery magnets that we bought during our 2001 vacation. LOL My DH scanned the magnet and made an image of it for me. :) Glad you like it!

CB is so beautiful and peaceful. I have never had a bad stay here. While there have been a few mix-ups they were always dealt with quickly! I have always stayed in Martinque, very close to the food/pool.

CB has always granted my every request. If you have ever been to the real Carribbean, you will be shocked to notice how you really feel like you're there. Each "island" has their own quiet pool, beach, child play gym, and most importantly HAMMOCKS and BEACH LOUNGE CHAIRS.

Children meals come in a bucket with shovel for kids to use at the beach. The best tip I can give you is request which "island" you want AND look for your nearest pool, it may be behind you at the next "island".

Nice sized rooms compared to the other two mods.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the responses and encouraging words. SeaSpray's site, photos and review were quite enjoyable. Your efforts are appreciated.

We love CBR!!! We either request Martinique or Jamaica, and we have never had a problem getting our requests. The rooms are larger than the other moderates, and with four women that is a big plus. We love the themeing and the beautiful beaches. We have never had to wait long for bus service. The food court has alot of variety. At night you can see the Epcot fireworks. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

You might want to visit the CBR FAQ's listed below. You will find lots of trip reports.

We stayed in 2003 and had a greta time, We did have a problem with the rooms on the first night, we request two rooms to be near or adjoining but we ended up in two seperate buildings. This was corrected the next day with a problem. We stayed in the Martenique area and the walk was not bad.

If SOG was full this time I think we would have tried for CBR again.

good Luck :earsboy:

it was too big for us (lots of walking to get to the pool and food court). the bus service seemed to take forever compred to the other moderates we have stayed at (por and csr), and i thought the theming wasn't as detailed as the other moderates. we didn't have an awful time, but we won't be going back. i think it's good to try everything once though. :)
