Okay, I'm reorganizing all my photos and getting them out of the "sticky" books... now comes the question....
How do you incorporate your cards (birthday, anniversary, etc) into your scrapbooks?? Do you keep them in an envelope and secure them to the back cover??

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
I don't throw anything away in regards to our family.. I have tickets, programs, and tons and tons of cards...

I need to find that thread by BernardandMissBianca about the Hoarder group... DH was laughing because I had even kept some of the envelopes I received the cards in... :confused3

Toss the envelopes!
I saw somewhere, I'm still looking, about cutting your cards into slim and tall diamond shapes and scrapping them. I'll keep looking.

Found it! 2peas!!!!

That is so cool!! I don't keep Christmas cards, but that is really cool looking...

I've saved Christmas cards in the past with intentions to "do" something with them, but I never could think of anything. I love the diamond pattern LO, just not sure what I'd do with it.

Oh and you could also cut the card and put it with a picture on a page and then type or write the inside at the bottom of the page and who it is from.

Let me see if I can find a layout.

This is a good one, you have flexibility depending on which way the card faces. This is a Becky Higgins sketch from creating keepsakes.

well that's a really neat idea. and you're right, it's the perfect 1st page. i also keep all my cards. i have them in hat boxes. dh keeps telling me to toss it, but i just can't bring myself to do that!
my mil cuts her cards and uses them as name tags the following year. but i can't do that either. i can't cut them. i hate to even cut my pics for my books. i must have a cutting thing.....:scratchin

The only Christmas cards I keep are the picture ones and I do a couple of pages at the end of my Christmas year pages.

For other cards throughout the year (birthday, anniversary, etc.) I use the pocket pages from Creative Memories to keep them in and just decorate around the edges. I add those throughout my album where I need to add cards.

Hope this helps. I love the idea that was posted using diamond shapes, I might have to try that as my beginning page for Christmas this year.

For now I've been keeping all my cards in photo boxes. I have 3: ones from DH and kids, Family and Friends. They're not close to being full so I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I also keep some envelopes - they have the person's handwriting on them! Not all envelopes, but some. It also has the postmark for date reference if you need that.

I think it's hard to incorporate the whole card into scrapbooks because they take up so much room. I did a scrapbook in high school with cards at that time and honestly I'd rather read through the cards on their own than have them glued down. Plus some people write on the backs - that's when you need to save the envelopes!

But a pocket page at the end of each years chronological album is a good idea! I might have to go back and add some in.

Thanks!!! I love the idea of the diamond shape one for a front page!!! I'm anxious to see if I can find the Becky Higgins sketch used... I'm a visual learner... LOL
Thanks again everyone!!!! keep the ideas coming...

Partyof3.. I have a cutting issue to with my cards....
I even keep a copy of the card I give out each year so that I have a record of what our family sent out!

If you have lots of room, you could cut the card in half and scrap the top half down and then the inside down, that way when you open the page you see the entire card, unless of course the person wrote on the back! Then you would have to do a flip technique. Or you could scan it in and copy it and then have all the pieces showing! Depending again on how much room you have and how detailed you want to be, otherwise the insert at the end of the book would be fine! Then you could just look at them all!
