Cards and packaging for pins

Do you like to have the original cards and packaging a pin came with?

  • Yes, all pins must be on original cards and packaging and it does enhance value.

  • No, the cards and packaging are just items for the garbage can

  • No for the most part, but yes on some pins (for example, Jail Scene).

  • No opinion/neutral

A question on another thread got me to wondering how most collectors feel about the cards and packaging that come with the pins.

Does the presence or the absence of the original packaging enhance or diminish the value or tradability of Disney pins?

For me, I said no, because I essentially collect pins and don't do much trading. However, I think if the packaging is integral to the pin, I'd probably keep it intact.

A good example is a pin I bought recently. It's Pooh and Piglet. The pin should have said "It's a Blustery Day", but the pin and the packaging said "It's a BLISTERY Day!" For that pin, I am leaving it in the original packaging. Makes me wonder how that one got through quality assurance?

Other than when the packaging makes the pin more attractive (Jail Scene like you mentioned, the 2000 Flower and Garden Show Flower pot and the like) I just toss them in the mail!

I personally don't care about the cards, unless for some reason the card is just a big part of the pin.
