Please bare with me, I am a first timer.
I will have a card for my hotel room.
I will have a card for park tickets.
Do I also get a card for ddp?:confused3
And does every one in my party get a card for each?(me, wife, son, daughter)
thanks

If you get your tickets from Disney upon check in then they will be on your resort room key.

All the DDP credits will also be on your room keys. Each person in your party will get a room key with the credits on them. You can just hand the waitress one key. You do not each need to hand him a key.

I don't even carry my kids keys around unless the park tickets are on them.

Your dining plan will be on your room key. When it is time to 'pay' for a meal, just hand the server your room key. When you get the slip back you will be able to see how many credits you have. The dining plan is tied in to your room reservation, so it is all done with the room key. It's very easy to use, and to keep track of.
Even if your group splits up, each person could feasibly use their dining credits, with their own room key....the credits are all lumped together, under the room reservation. So, each time a credit is used, it is deleted from the big room total.

You will have a credit card looking card that will get you in your room as well as the parks, same card. You can also have them put your credit card on it so that you can charge at stores and restaurants with the same card. As for the DDP, I think that is on the same card as well, but might be wrong. We have annual passes so aren't eligible for the ddp unfortunately, we get discount though.
Have a great trip

Upon check-in at your resort, you will receive a "Key to the World" card. It is the same size as a credit card. Each person in your party (You, Wife, Son, & Daughter) will receive one with their name on it. [I usually carry all of the cards around with me, unless our family splits up.)

This card is:
(1) your room key [Any of the four cards will unlock the resort room.]
(2) contains your park tickets [Each person will use their individual card when entering the parks.]
(3) contains your dining plan [At the end of a meal, just hand them one card. They will deduct the appropriate number of credits from your balance for your entire party.]
(4) used at the Fast Pass booths [Each card can only be used once in the Fast Pass booth, so you will need to use each card.]
(5) can be used for purchases (souvenir, etc.) made in the park [if you opt for this by using a credit card at check-in]. [WARNING: There have been reports of visitors that have noticed that their credit cards were charged for meals instead of the dining plan. So, watch your receipt carefully.]

You can request that your tickets be separate from your room key.

Also, even if you had a room-only and bought your tickets prior to arrival, you can have those tickets added to your room key.

Having them all in one card much, much easier. We bought AP passes for the first time and it's a pain to have to keep up with two cards.
