Of course she is entitled to her views (even though I may disagree with them) .... and Disney is entitled to hire and employ people they feel best represent their brand.

I do think she was extremely foolish. I would hope that Lucasfilm/Disney gave her the opportunity/choice to "backtrack"/apologize for her comments. Simply deleting a text does not do that IMO. I don't like the idea of people losing their jobs over their personal beliefs (however wrong they are). BUT, they should understand if they are a "face" of a company (as an actress would be), they represent the company, even when "off the clock".

While you are welcome to express yourself and your views, you have to realize that there might be consequences such as losing your job. Celebrities are not above this.

if the court case was dropped and she ( Rosario) was not convicted or found guilty, then there should be no issue.

Looks like it (Disney hasn't specifically said he was fired), although it's been what, 3 weeks? It took Disney most of a year to fire Gina.

It is my understanding that this was not one isolated post.... but the latest in an ongoing problem. I think this latest was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

Yeah, it's too bad really. I didn't think that what she had said at first was so bad, but she just kept pushing it further and further, doubling down. It got out of hand. It's not really her stance that is the proble, but how she relates it. They wouldn't fire her for respectful, cogent arguments. She might even have a point in ther esomehwere, but she has been really bad expressing it. I did like her character on the show so it is disappointing to see it go this way.

Yes we all have the right to our opinion, but we don't always have to express it. There can be consequences. I myself have thought twice about saying something, what would happened, would it change anything....etc.

I absolutely loved her character, and hope Disney reconsiders.

If that’s what it’s about and possibly in the works then say so. Come out and say that her contract will not be renewed. But doing it like this states otherwise, which I believe is the case and has all to do with her views.

Hollywood contracts often have clauses about such things. We will never be privy to what was in her's, but I am sure tha ti fthey terminated the contract tehy were within every legal right to do so.

It is bad business to mix politics with entertainment. It pushes the audience in one direction or another and that is a bad thing. The view that there is a price to pay if you express the wrong opinion is very totalitarian. I always felt that the kind of entertainment that Disney produced appealed to the widest possible audience. I am not aware of any particulars of Gina Carano situation or any discussions with her bosses regarding social media. But each time something like this happens there is this weird polarization around the comments, statements or thoughts of an entertainer. It shouldn't matter and it is weird that it does to someone.
