Car seats

Any suggestions on getting two Britax car seats and two small children 3, 1 1/2, through the airport to the plane? Just me and the hubby with the kids, carryons, car seats?? Can you bring luggage carts from the airport to the gates?

Your own luggage cart or the ones you pay a couple of bucks for? The carts that you pay for can't be taken through security. You'd have to pay for another one once you were past security. I'd recommend taking a stroller and gate checking it. The stoller can carry the car seats. You could also buy a car seat bag at Babies R Us (like you would check them in). These have back pack straps that could help you carry the car seats.

Buy a folding luggage cart of your own (the Samsonite Micromover is highly recommended) and attach the seat to the cart with a bungee cord. Then you can pile carry-ons into the seat. Some people even put the child in the seat - you'll want to make sure the seat is secure and you aren't exceeding the limits of your luggage cart, but with such small kids, it seems like it would work fine.

BTDT - don't worry its really not that bad!

We used the stroller to haul the stuff, carseats and kids through the airport. You can gate check the stroller and leave it at the door of the plane, retreiving it the same place when you deplane.

My SIL uses a carseat duffle, it can be used as a backpack or rolling duffle and she is very happy with it.

One thing I want to mention with the 3yo - you "may" want to skip the carseat on the airplane and check it through so you will have it for the ground. I found that by 3 -4 yo the benefits of the CRS decline on the aircraft and it can become a problem. We found that by 3 my dd was to crowded with the carseat. She was uncomfortable, way too close to the seat in front (kicking) and could not use the tray table. Especially with a big seat like a britax you may want to consider checking it with the baggage.
