Hi

Does anyone know the Florida Law for childrens car seating. Is a booster seat needed for children up to a certain age?

We are taking our 19 month old (car seat obviously needed), a 5 year old and a 7 year old. The 2 older kids are tall for their age but not certain how to play it when booking our vehicle.

Thanks

Florida state law requires children under age 5 to be protected with an approved and properly used child restraint device. For children under 3, Florida law requires that they be in a separate car seat or a car seat that is integrated into the vehicle. For children ages 4 and 5, a separate car seat, integrated car seat or seat belt may be used.

Not sure which car you have booked but we tend to book a Dodge Caravan - seats 7, which has the inbuilt car seats built into the middle row of seats. All you do is pull the middle down section and there is a harness restraint system there. The Caravan we had this year had 2 of these so saved us hiring a booster seat or taking our own. Just a tip if you do have car with this system you can tip the seat back to save a lolling head, just use the lever at the side of the seats.
