Car seat question - when did you face your baby forward?

I can't add anything more than Bren's Mom did but I will answer the OP.

DS, who is now 8 was turned at 31 months. He had a Britax Marathon

DD, who is 21 months is still rear facing. She is in a Britax also. I'm not 100% certain on the model. Maybe the Boulevard.

My son is 28 mos old, and 26 lbs...and he is still RF. It is the safest to have them rear facing as long as possible. The MINIMUM is 1 yr and 20 lbs, but it is safest to have them RF to 2 and 30 lbs, if possible.

I have several friends who are safety techs, and say that many laws are going to change in the next few years to be more like the laws in Europe. To where they will be RF until at least age 2.

I'm not gonna preach...you need to do what is right for your child. But to be legal you cannot FF until at least 1, and only if they are already 20 lbs.

Some good carseats...

Cosco scenera...very affordable convertable, around $40 at Walmart
Britax Marathon...very expensive...around $250...but very good.

Another decent convertible, while doesn't get points on comfort, it gets pretty good safety reviews is the Cosco Scenera.

And I agree, the Scenera is a great, inexpensive seat.

I'm glad to read so many positive comments here about the Cosco Scenera car seat. I just purchased this car seat to use in my car for my grandson. I hesitated because it seemed so inexpensive (I paid $52.00 at Target), but I checked it out online before purchasing it and it has excellent reviews. Safety ratings are very good, and I figure all car seats must have to pass the same set of safety rules. Other than the padding not being as thick as some other car seats, I couldn't see much difference between this seat and more expensive models. He doesn't spend a lot of time in my car, so I think it'll work just fine.

My grandson turned a year old last month and he just recently outgrew his infant car seat. It was easy to transfer that seat from car to car. Now that he's into a bigger seat, it was easier to just buy an extra car seat for my car.

There are a lot of "big boys" on this thread! I guess my grandson is a little guy at 21 pounds and barely 29 inches. His car seat will be rear-facing for a long time.:)

ours were in a convertable by around 6 months old, so they fit better, and we kept them rear facing till around 15 months or longer
