I will be flying to Disney on 1/8/06 (first time going and very very excited) and I'm just wondering if anyone flew on US Air with a 2 year old (she has her own seat) and did you need a car seat? Thanks to all those who reply!!!!!!

We flew about three weeks ago with a DS5 and DD2. We had her a seat and thought she would sit there; we also didn't want to drag the car seat with us since we were using ME, we didn't need it there. We were wrong. Our flight was a little over two hours each way. Our little girl was kinda of scared on the plane. Wanted to sit in her mommy's lap. The airline said since we bought her a seat, FAA said she had to sit in it during take off and landing at least. DD would have been much happier in the seat that she is accustomed to riding in. ME would have hauled our seat anyways, we wish we had took it. Just our thoughts.

Yes, it may be optional. We thought we could do without it. But I also forgot how bad the terrible twos could be. I think anything that would have been familiar might have made the air trip more bearable for my little one. It depends on your child's temperment and your ability to deal with them if they are unhappy.

I also believe it's safer for a child to be in their carseat rather than straped into an adult size seat.
