car rentals on debarkation day

If we want to get off the ship and rent a car to Universal (staying two nights) and then return the car to MCO, what is the best and/or least expensive option for that in PC? Won't need a very big car because it will just be me, DH and DS.

You will find a variance in rates with companies. I recommend booking online to check for the best rate. We did Budget last time a few years ago for about $40 but the rates for our newest cruise was going to be about $150 so I shopped a few other places. I ended up finding $60 rate at Avis I think.

The best I've gotten for PC to Mco is thru Alamo for 9/5-9/7 is $137 with an insider 1 car upgrade and thru BJ's. I prefer Alamo so haven't looked elsewhere.

Port Canaveral is getting to be a very busy port. You may want to go to this site and see how many ships will be in port the day you want to rent the car. If there are a lot of ships it may take longer to get picked up from the terminal and to rent a car.

We have had good luck renting through Costco for Port Canaveral. We usually end up with Avis. As long as you are not waiting on a specific car type, it is a very quick process. We were stuck one time waiting on a minivan large enough for our party. Since they have to wait for one to be returned, you have to wait as well! But it looks like you have a small party and could get away with just about any vehicle. Prices have always been very reasonable on the one-way rental between the port and MCO as most companies do not add an additional fee since they know they will rent them right out again.

I get a company deal on National rentals; however at PC, we have rented from Thrifty, Budget, Hertz, and National depending on price. As far as customer service, I like them in this order at PC: Hertz, National, Budget, Thrifty. I believe National is in with Enterprise and Alamo at PC. I advice is to shop around on line, look for online discount codes, book early and go with the best price.
