Anyone have a great rate yet?? So far it is NASTY! Nothing good. We are going for 10 days and looking for an SUV or Minivan.

Dollar rental, use promo code OOAG, best rates i've found to date !!

I just tried that code....much better than what I've been seeing.

316 + taxes for minivan for 10 days
360+ taxes for durango or similar for 10 days...

Is this our annual October rental thread? I missed this thread last year since we cruised instead. So far I have seen nothing good for October this year.

I just checked out dollar...don't like them, they charge 9.99 per day extra for extra driving. I'll have to see if I can get a decent rate w/BJ's code, as most of their rates include additional driver.

I don't like being trapped if I want to go and run to DTD and hubby wants to be at the pool.

We are now thinking about driving down......

I've always been able to find great rates through Alamo whenever we travel. Not the case for October!! I think I might actually have to use Magical Express :scared1:

If you google Orlando Magiccard, I got a slightly better rate with Dollar using that code than I did with the code above. Though it might have been our dates too (Oct. into Nov.).

How long are you renting the car for? That would be my dream rate if it was for 10 days. :teeth:

No sorry - that's just my cost for a week. Sat-Sat. I actually booked back in March at the $199 per week base rate; but it looks like when I punch that code in again I get the $249 weekly base rate.

Alamo 7014664.
Gives me a minivan weekly rate for $249. Early October. $323 all in cost.

Do you know where this code came from? :confused3There's a lot of codes floating around that no one knows who sponsors them or if you have to be a TA or member of something to be able to use it.

ETA: Never mind, it's giving me over $500 for 9 nts in Aug and over LD weekend.

Here is the thread I saw back in March when I booked my october rental. The code stilled worked except it showed $249 per week now for my dates vs. $199. Hope it helps someone. I haven't seen a better minivan rate for October since then and I check every few days.

I have a reservation for a compact, 2 weeks from National for $365. Pick up at the Dolphin and returning to MCO. I had read somewhere on these boards that it was cheaper at that time for this type of pickup than renting at the airport. I had checked and it was true, it was much cheaper than pickup and return at the airport. Plus it was a lot cheaper than Alamo. We'll take ME in. We are staying at BWV so this is easy to do, we picked up our rental this way last year too, but last year it was only $227! I'm still looking for a better rate, but I'll keep this for now. Used the Costco codes and have a free addl driver.

I think it is still too far out to get a deal. The prices usually start dropping about 6 weeks out. That being said I rented for a week in May and paid more than I ever had for a week's rental in FL. I'm also going in October and I have a rental booked now but I won't start seriously looking until about labor Day.

I have a fullsize booked with Alamo for $242.53 all in.(Oct 13 thru Oct 20) I used the Walmart code and a BJ's coupon for "one free day". I booked this on May 12 and the day after I booked this the rates skyrocketed in the mid 300's without all the taxes and fees :scared1: !! I remember a couple of months before not booking because they rates were so high when it was $150 a week!!!I do fool around with my same timeframe with the last minute code IG from Alamo and see if there is some possibility as my trip gets closer of the rates going down and for June that has been the case.I just had a short trip in May and booked a compact with Dollar...the worst car I have ever rented so I am not inclined to use them again.Last Sept I had a midsize with Alamo for a week for $61 and change , yes all in !!! I cannot imagine ever seeing that again!!!

I feel your pain. I was used to getting a week for $70-$80 all in. Now anything under $200 seems fair. My rate for May was $171, about $100 more than usual but what I'm seeing for October it seems like a downright bargain.
