I just booked a car rental online using a code found on the Dollar site. It was a good deal and everything went through for my dates. I just went back to browse the costs for an upgraded car and noticed that my code was supposed to be effective only through 8/27. My travel dates are in Nov. and the code worked for then. I printed the confirmation off the site and have also rec'd an email confirmation. Do you think I'll be alright?

Hi Susie,

I just did the same thing!!! Took the deal $119/week Compact. Total charges $173. My dates are for late Sept.

I called dollar and they confirmed my price. They said reservation has to made by 8/27, but car can actually be used at a later date. I questioned her several times, with different wording just to make sure. She said 'all is good - not to worry'.

Same as you, I don't want to pick up the car and then be told my bill is $350 or so.

Did the same thing with Alamo a few weeks ago. Got a great rate for a midsize with a coupon that expired on June 30th for traveling in September. In my case, the site where I got the coupon from has been updated, so now I have a coupon that says its good until December. The last time I checked Alamo's site with my dates, the rate they were offering is $60 more than mine, even with the coupon.

I guess its kind of a play on words. Smart on their part. I bypassed it a few times, thinking I was missing a good thing. Went back and put my dates in...so glad I did!
But I had to call, to reasure myself that it would be ok.

I've never rented from dollar...as a matter of fact...this is my 1st time ever renting a car. What a hassle!!
