Is it possible to rent a car without leaving Disney property? We'll only need one for a couple days and wanted to take the ME and not rent a car directly from MCO. We're staying at SSR or BLT. TIA for your thoughts. :)

Yes, Alamo and National both are on site at the Dolphin Hotel and Disney Car Care Center. They'll pick you up and return you to your on site hotel.
You can book online through the regular Alamo or National websites. Just click the locations button and narrow it down to one or the other on site locations.

Thanks a bunch. That is so convenient. We're heading to Universal for a couple days - I know, the shame!

Have you used either rental company?

As a PP said, yes you can! Here's a few details:

The Alamo location code for the Car Care Center, which is attached to the Hess station you pass as you leave the Magic Kingdom, is ORLR72. The Alamo location for the Dolphin is ORLR74.

What you do is make your reservation online, as you normally would, using the location codes above. You can also pickup/dropoff at one of those locations and dropoff/pickup at MCO, if you wish. The cost is usually the same for doing that, but not always.

If you are picking up at the CCC, you call the local Alamo number at the CCC the day before you want to rent the car and tell them when you would like to be picked up (probably about a half hour before your reservation starts) and they'll pick you up at your resort and take you to the CCC. (I'm not sure if the Dolphin has the shuttle, but there's other ways to get to the Dolphin anyway -- like walking thru Epcot, among others).

If you return the car to the CCC, my experience has been that they'll drop you off at the Kennel Club (sounds funny, but its at the Ticket and Transportation Center and you can get pretty much anywhere from there). I've heard others say they'll take you other places, but maybe that depends on if they're going to that resort to get someone else.

They will drop you off at your resort too.

There is also a Dollar Rental in the Regal Sun Resort across from Downtown Disney Marketplace. I took a bus to Downtown Disney and it's just a short walk to the hotel. For the return, they drove me back to my hotel.

Thanks so much for the info-especially the location codes!:flower3:

I'm glad they'll drop us off at the hotel. You know what it's like when you're on vacation-time is precious. Thanks for the help. :goodvibes

I am also hoping to rent a car for a couple days. Can one safely walk from the TTC (or Polynesian where we'll be) over the the rental office, or do you really need to get that ride? If that can be done I can probably save a bit of time on an over scheduled day.

Each of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd has a different company for renting a car, so you are not confined to Alamo. They all will pick you up and return you to your hotel. We have used Budget at the Doubletree several times.
