What size you think we need? Trying to keep cost down. Would like to get Full Size vs Premium.

2 Adults
2 Sm Kids in Car Seats
1 Double Stroller

Probably 3 Large Luggage 28"-31" (Yet to buy)
1 Sm Luggage
2 Carry-ons
Large Diapper Bag
And Kids Things

Would all this fit?

Full Size Car: Taurus or Impala (which is bigger)
Prem Car: Bonneville or Grand Mar (which is bigger)

Anyone know of a great rate for mid-Oct?

Thanks for your help.

We had an Impala the last time and the trunk was enormous. You should be ok with that. We usually rent through National and their site usually gives you an idea how much they hold - we've found it to be pretty accurate.

hth!

Three large suitcases plus the double stroller may not make it in a Taurus trunk. Last time, we had two large suitcases in the Taurus, plus a stroller (P3, so umbrella style) and it fit, but I couldn't see adding another big suitcase plus a double stroller. You may want to look for a minivan deal - Thrifty had a great minivan rate a couple of weeks ago, and may have another one soon.

Make sure you use Hertz - they have a rental counter in the airport. Alamo makes you take a bus to an off-site rental place where they made us wait FOREVER last time. NEVER AGAIN! And certainly not with kids.

We have fit 2 adults and two kids with a Britax Marathon car seat, Peg Perego Pliko in an Intermediate car at National. The issue is the trunk space - you need to pack carefully. How long is your trip? I have the kids "stuff" which is usually used on the place in their backpacks which I put in the main car compartment vs. trunk. I also agree about using a car place on site. We use National and are Emerald Club so we just go right to the car.

Sorry, but this isn't true, unless you booked at the other site. Alamo has cars in the parking garage across the street like all the others. :flower:

This is why we use National and do belong to their "emerald club". It's nice to just skip the counter all together, walk across the street, pick out a car, and go.

Actually, no on both parts. Alamo used to be offsite with a shuttle, it is now onsite. It was slow as sin previously, I haven't used since so I couldn't say as to the speed now. Hertz IS offsite, you will need to take a shuttle to rent a car from them. Check Orlando airport's website , they have a list of the car rental companies and weither they are on or offsite. Good luck!

Oh thank god for this board... We would have been REALLY pissed to find out the Hertz situation had changed once we got to the airport. You guys are lifesavers - thank you so much for the heads up. I'm e-mailing my travel agent now!

P.S. Since I'm at it, which car rental company do you think is the best, all around? National?

Thank you!!!

Each agency has their own system of classifying cars, so make sure you check each one for the type of vehicle you want, and the category/ price you're willing to pay.
To keep costs down I would suggest mousesavers codes for rental cars, my DH got us a full size for 9-10 days for under $200. It also makes for a happy DH when he can go around thinking of all the great deals he's gotten! :cool1:

I'm sure you can get yourself a good deal using the codes! Good Luck!

I would go over to Mousesavers.com and sign up for the free Emerald Club for National. They had the best prices when we were looking using the multiple discount codes on the Mousesavers site. At the airport you get your bags, walk out the door and across the street to the Emerald Asile. Put your stuff in a car, drive to the exit and hand them your license and coupons. They give you back your stuff and off you go. EASY!

We had an Impala and it does have a HUGE trunk. You could get your stroller and most of your luggage in there. The rest could fit in the back seat either between the car seats or on the floor. The drive to Disney is only about 30 minutes or so.

The only problem is the double stroller. These things take up a lot of space.See if you can get a smaller one that fold up compact. Unless you can get a very good deal on a rental the cost of a full size to minivan or suv,the difference may be in buying a smaller stroller and saving the cash for your trip. We did this in Sept of last year. Using Nana's stroller and buying one from target for $20. we were able to leave the double at home.
