Car rental ???s What am I doing wrong...

I'm trying to get a decent rate for this coming summer. And I just can't get below $300!!! I want a small (compact) car from MCO to WDW to MCO. I used what codes I'm able to at this point, signed up for Emerald. What am I missing? No way will my dh go with a rental at that price and the hassle of driving!!

There was a special advertised with Dollar -- a compact car for a weekly rate of $134.99 (KISS3 -- Florida only). This is good trhu Dec. '04.

I am also having amazing levels of frustration trying to get decent rental rates - We are traveling in March (not during college spring break) and I just could not get lower then $200 which to me was ludicrous - I am an EA member too - although, $200 is a far cry from $300 which would have really sent me through the roof. If you are an EA member they are running a $189 base rate promotion right now and you will always get an intermediate or above.
I finally had some luck using a code I got off of mousesavers that others here have told me isn't all the great during the times they were traveling. It is the AMEX code she lists - I don't have it in front of me. It came up with a base rate of $137 for EA. I played around with all the codes she posts and this was the best I could get.

Ooops - before I get blasted - National has a promotion for $185 - not $189 - for full sized cars for anyone, not just EA members and the rate is valid through May 26th. Add codes to this and you can do pretty good.

the prices have gone up since last year. I paid 365.00 for a mini van for 11 days and this year it is almost 400.00 for 9 days from Philly, with unlimited mileage. Almost the same price to fly, very frustrating.
