DW and I will be going to Vero Beach followed by a stay at the Boardwalk. We are going to rent a car to drive to Vero from the airport and then drive from Vero to WDW. Can we rent with National or Alamo and return the car to the Dolphin? We won't use it once we get to BWV.

We could just roll the bags from the dolphin to the Boardwalk. Would that work?

Thanks

Yes. But just an FYI sometimes one way rentals can cost more than a "normal" rental.

Thanks, But is it one way? We will be renting the car at MCO driving to Vero, and then driving the car to WDW to return it. Is it considered one way because we would not be returning it to the airport?

Yes. When you rent from an airport and return to another location (local or airport) it is a one-way rental. I have found if you rent from a local location and return to the nearest airport it does not price any differently than if you returned it to the location you rented it from.

I'm not saying it will cost more, just keep an eye out when you are looking at prices. Also keep an eye out for unlimited miles vs. pay per mile on one way rentals.

Thanks for the info and advice!

A rental from one location and return to another location can be quite a bit higher....... though it can be done.

Another option would be to rent and return to MCO. Then have Magical Express scheduled at MCO for the day you want to return the car on your way back from Vero. You don't have to be arriving on a flight that day to use ME, you just have to have a reservation at a Disney resort.

If you want to use ME and they ask for flight info, you can give them any flight arriving the day you want to take ME and then if using it back to the airport at the end of your Boardwalk stay you can give them that return info as well.

Thanks for that, Lots to consider.

Disney doesn't charge for parking. Car agencies give their best rates for a weekly rental. Price a rental for your entire stay. Price the rental for a return at the S/D at different days/times.

You can certainly return the car at MCO and take DME back to WDW. Make sure you're saving enough money. Chances are you'll want to check in then drive to MCO. You'll probably waste 2-3 hours and a couple of dollars for gas and tolls.

I had a question about renting and returning, we are renting a car from MCO but then we are leaving for a cruise, do you think it would be better to return the car to MCO and do another 1-day rental and drop off in port canaveral, or do you think it would be cheaper to just rent from MCO and Drop off in port canaveral without going back to the airport, Also another question, do most car rental places in Port canaveral have a shuttle to the docks?

You'll have to play around with rates and codes to see what is cheapest. Rental car rates are so variable there is just no way of predicting. Though typically one way rentals are higher. However in your case without knowing the days of the week or times you will be doing this makes it hard to predict which is best.

This past weekend I needed a one way rental from PDX to RDM. At first National was pricing out at $800 for 4 days. Then I found a rate at $100 for 4 days but it also charged 40 cents per mile. Finally I found a rate that priced out to $120 and included unlimited miles. Obviously that is what I booked.

Also price renting the car for a week and paying to park the car while you're on your cruise. That will allow you to rent from an agency that doesn't have an office near the port.
