Curious - we have ressies to pick up a standard SUV at Alamo at MCO the first part of March. Had heard rumblings of very long lines at Alamo counter in the past. Does anyone know if this is still true? And, if you do the online check in and use the kiosk if this helps? Finally we are flying in Southwest, where is the counter located in reference to their baggage claiim? One more question - do you know if they have a variety of cars? We have been to airports where we had to wait to get one in our Standard SUV category

First, you might want to join the (free registration) Alamo Insider program. Link your reservation using the Alamo confirmation code on your reservation. Then, check-in online and complete the skip the counter process. Print out the acknowledgment, go directly to the appropriate aisle in the garage to select a vehicle, and present this paperwork, your license, and credit card at the exit gate, and you should be on your way. No counter, and no kiosk, so no lines.

SW is on the A-side of MCO. Go down to baggage claim on the A-side, pick up your bags, proceed down to level 1, go across to the garage, and pick up your rental.

I have no experience renting any SUV, but we usually get a standard sedan. At MCO, Alamo has no standard aisle, so we select from the full size aisle. Sometimes, there are even SUVs available there, but I prefer a sedan. Also, Covid may have changed the vehicle mix since the car rental operations have reduced inventory at MCO. In fact, the B-side garage is not currently being used.

This times 1,000.

IMO, you don’t want anything to do with waiting in the rental car lines I’ve seen at MCO lately, if you can help it.
