Car Rental for August 2015

Hello I am looking at car rental prices for August 6 - 16, 2015 and wanted to get peoples advice on when and where to book, if anyone had any good discount codes and what I should expect to pay.

We are looking at picking up and dropping off at MCO and would like at least a midsize car but would love a van.

My usual advice is to go ahead and book something now. Just don't do anything that involves pre-paying.

As time goes on, check occasionally to see if there's better deals. Sometimes minivan deals pop up, but you'll probably find better deals for the car.

The best deals tend to not come up until anywhere from 2 to 21 days before you depart. That's why you don't do prepay and thats when you need to do your most intense looking. But, as I mentioned earlier, don't count on that. Keep a usable reservation as time goes on.

Rich is 100% correct, and I'd like to add that mousesavers.com has a ton of car rental codes for every major car rental company. Keep playing with those, but the real bargains usually come close to the last minute!

Thanks, I appreciate the information. I have already made a booking via Sky Scanner which came out at $348 for 11 nights in a midsized with Sixt. This is not a pre-paid so can cancel if need be.

I will keep searching and will try mousesavers too.

I just booked for next August and got a Mid size SUV from 8/13-8/20, grand total with everything: $253.87. That was thru Dollar, city specials, picking up at their location in DTD...I'll take it !

That is a great deal - any code or just look up the City Specials? That is worth getting a cab to the DTD location to pick it up. We do have an additional driver in with our rental but WOW that's a good price.

No code...just city special. We've rented from them a few times already (we pick up at the Wyndham in DTD). If you're staying on Disney property, you can arrange for free pick up too from your resort so no need to spend $$ for a cab .

Thanks, we are not staying on Disney property but in a private villa (we like the space!)

Will have another look today as I couldn't see a city specials on the website when I looked yesterday.

For Dollar's city specials, you have to request the quote first. Then on the screen with the prices, there is usually a banner mid quote that says something along the lines of "check for city special."

Mommyrosa2 - have you used the DTD location before? I have a rental with them for my April trip. Did you have to arrange pick day(s) prior or could you call the same day?

We've used them before and always pick up the vehicle at the Wyndham Hotel. We've also made all our pick up arrangements the day before we arrive....you might be able to do it the same day but we've never done tried.

Just got $407.66 for Aug 5-16 in a mid-sized SUV picking up at from DTD. Not sure if this is as good as the deal I got on skyskanner as it doesn't include the additional driver, plus we are staying off-site so still have to get there to pick it up, but it is a bigger car! Oh the dilemma! LOL! guess I will keep looking until I get what I want or am happy with what I got!

I will be traveling with DM, DH and DS and we would rather use Magical Express to get to and from airport (and have them deal with the luggage situation). I'll just need to add a phone call to them onto my to do list for the day before.
