Car Rental Codes for December

The November rates are pretty sky high too. I'm trying to book through Alamo because of being able to choose your vehicle. I am however holding an Avis reservation for a SUV for the week before Thanksgiving for $6 cheaper than the Alamo Intermediate ressie.

What is the Alamo code u used?

Just finished plugging in a run of 75 AVis AWD codes. Everything from Hawaiian Bar Association to the Pipe Fitters Union contracts, and everything in between! Only ONE came remotely close to matching the FL employee rate... A074800 for Citicorp leisure travel. It is $478 for a mini-van for my 8 days, $60 a day. I booked it. The FL state employee code A113400 comes up as $341, or $42 a day. All 73 other codes ranged from $1000 to $1400 for the 8 days.

So, right now I am up to 4 cars booked for my eight days. An Escape and and Edge from Budget, and 2 mini-vans from Avis one with the FL employee code that is suspect. Researching it on the internet it looks about 50/50 for asking for proof on teh FL employee code.

Now I will start entering about 75 National codes I found (mostly corp codes). My eyes are already aching!

Large enough for luggage, wheelchair, double stroller, and 2 kids in car seats. I have quite the task, huh?

Found another price that is in teh bal park, but again one to cheat the sustem...

Enterprise booked through the State of Wisc website. $380 total for a mini-van for my 8 days. If you are a state employee there are some OK rates. So, do I want to pretend to be a FL state employee or a Wisc state employee? Considering my ID is from PA .... :rotfl:

I really hate this rental car game.

Yep, my Id is from PA too lol

I'd feel much better if that Florida code was with Alamo instead of Avis since I use the kiosk instead of going to the counter. Far less likely to get busted that way.

Sigh.

Well I guess it's better to cover your bases and see what flies. What's the worst they can really do, just deny you the rate. :confused3

I hear that folks get good deals on priceline. I've been bidding on a mini-van Xmas week daily to see if I can get in the ballpark of the suspect code I used for a good rate ... today this message popped up "Name Your Own Price is not available for the itinerary you requested. The best available rates are shown below ... mini-van $1061 for 8 days with PayLess Rental (off-site).":headache:

Be careful of using codes you not entitled to at Avis in Orlando airport. They are notorious for checking their codes and rejecting people who use them.:scared1::scared1: I saw them do that to several people last year.I am also looking for discounts for late in December!!!

Since you have to provide your license it isn't going to fly! They were really rude to the people last year who tried to use a bogus code and it sets you back 45 minutes to get a rental at another car company. I believe there was a problem with people trying to use a code for travel agents in South America.

So, what happens with the other reservations? Is there a cancellation policy one would have to look at? Hotels charge you for the first night - do car rental companies do the same or does the reservation just expires?

In general you are not charged if you don't cancel and don't show up. BUT there is always the option for the car company to charge you for a no-show if you belong to one of their frequent rental clubs and you have your credit card on file with them Those programs have the huge advantage of allowing you to by-pass the counter and just pick up your car from the lot.

I see nothing wrong with holding multiple reservations for a while, but I think it's simply polite to cancel your unwanted reservations so the company can be better prepared for their customers who do end up renting from them.

alamo's rates came way down for me! used a costco code on top of that and a coupon 11 days for fullsize $215 including tax. also tried using code sunpromo (which says expires before that date, but i know they always extend this code and it worked) and took a good chunk off of base price!

For late Dec try BudgetBCD x474200

This is a Travelocity code that brought my rates WAY down.

What are the terms of this code? Do you need to have booked it through Travelocity? The rates this code generate are INCREDIBLE! :cool1:

I just called Budget and booked a minivan using this code. The agent I spoke to told me that the code is still valid and that no documentation had to be provided. I also used a coupon code (MUWZ023) that will give $25 off at return.

Total cost for 7 day rental of a minivan after the discount code and coupon code is $277.77 - quite a savings from $1150, which is their rack rate!:banana::banana:

Alamo prices just went down for the 1st week of Dec. I am at $114 for a week (including taxes/fees) for a standard car. (Standard size vehicles are the only ones on "sale")

What codes did you use for your rate?

The rates seem best for mini-vans, which is what I need. Rates not all that great for compact, IMO. Code is a public one. No need to book through tTravelocity. Book right through Budget.com. Thanks to Robin for helping me find carrentalsavers.com than had this travelocity code, I canceled all of my back-up ressies. I won't even have to pretend to be a Florida State employee with this code. LOL!!! Coupled with coupon muwz023, it is cheaper than the avis florid state employee code!! THANKS!!!

Just booked a minivan with that Travelocity code at Budget. For 12/23-12/30, we got $286 including taxes. This is a HUGE savings.

I'd previously had Enterprise booked at $417 which I thought was good for that week. The cheapest I could find with Alamo was about $950, and some others were in the $1000+ range. We used the Budget location at the Doubletree near Downtown Disney, not MCO.

Thanks for much for the information!
