Car rental Beach Club Resort

Hi, we are staying at the Beach Club Resort in August 2013 for 10 days. Do you think we need to rent a car for our stay? I am torn as to what to do, sometimes I think yes then sometimes I think no. What does everyone else think? Thanks.

You definitely don't NEED one.

That being said, there are many people that prefer the benefits of not having to rely on Disney Transporation. We find that we generally save the equivalent of one extra vacation day by renting a vehicle. That being said, we love to park hop and make dinner reservations all over the place.

Because you are staying at BC, you won't save any time on getting anywhere except for Animal Kingdom, the waterparks or Downtown Disney. While Magic Kingdom might seem like an area where you could save time travelling to because you otherwise have to wait for a bus, you would still need to drive to the TTC and transfer to a monorail or boat, so any time savings there would be neglible.

You will save time hopping between parks and driving to other resorts if you rent a car. You also would have the flexibility of travelling off-property, which offers several meal and shopping opportunities.

You don't really need a car. But if you have to there are many car rental places to rent at WDW. So after a day or two without a car and you feel a need to rent one you can.

As the PPs have said, you don't need to rent a car. The BC is central to Epcot and DHS (no point in driving to either of these) and it's still easier to take the bus to MK because of the TTC. For my family, driving to AK, the water parks, and DTD make having a car worthwhile when at the Epcot area resorts. The other time when having a car is nice, is when you have a lot of resort meals planned. Because there are no direct resort-to-resort buses and transferring at DTD is problematic, it's easier to be able to drive to another resort for a meal. You can always take a taxi, so it just depends on the costs and whether you like have the flexibility of a car or would rather not have to worry about driving.
