Car land radiator spring racer

I really want to ride RSR at night but our FP return times are always in the afternoon. I was thinking that maybe the standby line may be shorter during Woc??? Any thoughts? We are going in September during what should be a slower time in the park....

Single ride is the best bet IMO unless you wait at the FP machines for the return time to change to the time you want. But that can take quite a while now. You can check back every so often and when its close you get in line for FP but again that's a hassle. If everyone in your group is old enough to ride alone than try the single rider. Often you will ride in the same car as someone else in your group. And the SR line goes much faster than the stand by line. I never use stand by for that ride. Its either FP or SR.

You can also check FP return times on the Disneyland app periodically during the day. That way you don't have to stand around. When the return times get to the evening hours you want, you can walk back to the booths to get your FPs. I suggest checking the app different days before your visit to gauge when evening FPs become available.

You can use the App or Ask Otto (phone service) to check on the FP return times and get a later FP. We usually ride Toy Story first and our FP are still pretty early. I think waiting at least an hour after park opening would help. Also, though you'll still have to wait, you can get in line to ride just before the park closes. I've heard the lines moves slightly faster since the FP line gets closed. They won't close the ride (unless it breaks down) until everyone gets to ride. So it's one way to not waste precious park time waiting hours to ride.

We have the opposite problem. My kids won't sleep later than 7:00 even if they're up late the night before. For us to avoid over-tired kids, we have to make sure they're getting enough sleep on the front end by keeping bedtimes early. Of course that means we miss out on the fireworks and WOC and all that, which stinks but what are you going to do? How old are yours?
They are 5 and 7 year old girls. Hotels just rev them up and they bounce off the walls all night. This time we had a suite so the 5 year old had her own room but the 7 year old was still up later every night. Basically, we need 3 bedrooms for 4 people if anyone wants to get any sleep.

Thanks for the advice all! I also think that waking up early while you are in the parks won't be a problem!! My kids never sleep in due to excitement!!

I still wish we'd ridden it at night. Even with the long lines.

Two adults here, myself and DD25, no small kids. But planning to ride our first time there in early May. Wondering why you wish you rode it at night, even if lines were long, so is it better at night for some reason? Is the ride that recently opened back up after being changed up a bit?

Much cooler at night IMO.

I wonder if desert inn& suites or carousel inn have this configuration. 2 rooms & you sleep on couch. Haha!

We have this issue too. We'll try 1 room next trip.

I'll be honest- I'd never wake my kids up early, esp on vacation. I just don't like being around my kids when they don't wake themselves up naturally, and for them it's like 8:30/9am. I get it.

Totally understand. What I don't understand is the OP then worrying about the kids' melt down if they don't ride. I think it's called a consequence.:goodvibes

I think people feel it's better at night because the inside portion of the ride takes place at night since it's a dark ride. So it's more cohesive as you start and end the ride outside. It can be a bit odd if you start in the day, go through the night, and then it's day again all in 5 minutes. Plus there is the whole eyes adjusting to the light and dark. That being said we usually ride in the middle of the day whenever our FP are available. We've never waited in the standby line.

Thanks to both of you for sharing your opinions! Hmm, maybe isn't the ride I'm thinking it is, though, lol. I didn't realize it's a dark ride so maybe I'm thinking of something else, lol. Is this super fast or make for a queasy stomach? Hmm, guess I'll have to look at the rides again lol, I'm getting confused!

It's combination of a dark ride and a kind of roller coaster - if you've been to WDW I'd say the best comparison is Test Track with the dark ride elements from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the beginning.

Hmm, okay, I guess it's not the one I thought, lol. So, does it have big drops or anything? DD25 and I don't really do most of the coaster, she loves Btmrr(I go with her once in awhile), and likes SM, and we like 7DMT if we sit in the front, but we're basically big chickens, lol. I haven't done test track yet, tho DD25 likes it.

It's this ride https://disneyland.disney.go.com/attractions/disney-california-adventure/radiator-springs-racers/

You start outside with some nice music and drive near the waterfall from the movie. It’s pretty. Then you go inside the show building and are taken to Radiator Springs, which is getting ready for a big race. All the scenes are in the dark, it’s a very well done dark ride sequence. Then you go into one of two rooms to prepare for the “race.” You and another car emerge and they send you on your way. The cars aren’t fast (like 40mph?), but it gives a small thrill. There are two little hills and some turns. It’s not intense like a coaster. You can watch the outside portion of the ride before getting in line. This ride is a FP must.

RSR is not like a roller coaster - I mean Space and BTMRR is not even like a roller coaster compared to Screamin or other coasters in other parks - it's fun, it's fast and I think it's pretty easy on the body compared to other rides.

No drops just two little bunny hills. If you're fine on BTM I'm sure you'll be fine.
Oh, cool, that doesn't sound too bad! I like the way you call them bunny hills, lol! Thanks, Disney_Alli!

Thanks, agamble, for the link and the description! I sounds fun and looks like a really cool ride! If you ride late at night, is there maybe a short line, or always long cause it's so popular? Not intense like a coaster, that's a good description!

No, but to me they are big coasters, lol! This old body needs 'easy on the body', lol! Thanks, sherilaine!

Idk, it's funny but DD25 doesn't like Pirates in WDW anymore because of the drop, and freaked out after the Splash Mountain ride with her DF, lol! But she likes space mountain. I haven't done, SplMtn or SpMtn at all. I only do BTMRR every once in a while. I may do it in DL just because it's our first time there.
This rode seems like a definite must do so will plan for getting a FP for it! Getting excited with only 6 weeks to go!

If you are scanned into EITHER park, you can use the tickets to get FP from either park. So yes, we have often done just that to acquire our RSR FP'S and I am often the "runner". So I would enter DL with all of my party, each of us scanning our tickets at the gate, and then I'd do a ride or two before collecting everyone's tickets, leaving them to enjoy DL, and head over to DCA to get our RSR FP's. It works perfectly! And gives me time to grab a Starbucks and maybe a treat for everyone to share when I meet back up with them in DL.

I've done this for three trips, so I can assure you it works! :rainbow:
Thank you so much! We've often wondered about this but never gotten around to trying it. We definitely will this time. This will make a huge difference!:thumbsup2

The lighting at night makes it feel so much like the movie. The first time I rode it was at night, and I actually teared up because it was so well done. I'm such a Disney sap! We waited to the side at the Fastpass machine until it came to a time after sunset. I'm glad we did!
