Thank you, I don't need to read it again. But let me repeat what *I* said because you didn't read ME properly.
OBVIOUSLY you cannot get fast passes from a park that you are not in. The post I quoted suggested that all one needs to do is take everyone's passes into DCA and get Fast Passes from Radiator Springs Racers. HOWEVER, the only person that is physically in DCA with a scanned-in ticket is the person getting the passes. He/she cannot scan the whole family's passes into DCA because the rest of them are not in DCA.
So my question (again) is, can one member of your party do this? Can my husband take all our passes while we wait in DLand, and scan himself (and not us) into DCA and get Fast Passes for all four of us? I'm saying we haven't been able to do it this way in the past. We could not get a Fast Pass until you've scanned your pass into the park. What would do is have all four of us scan into DCA, THEN Hubby would take the passes and run with them. We would either do something else in DCA or start to make our way back to DLand (but we couldn't go in again because he had our passes). He would catch up to us and then we'd scan back into DLand.
The part I am questioning is this: "go back to DL meet up with party" I am questioning the ability for one person to get all the Fast Passes if they are still in the OTHER park.
If you are scanned into EITHER park, you can use the tickets to get FP from either park. So yes, we have often done just that to acquire our RSR FP'S and I am often the "runner". So I would enter DL with all of my party, each of us scanning our tickets at the gate, and then I'd do a ride or two before collecting everyone's tickets, leaving them to enjoy DL, and head over to DCA to get our RSR FP's. It works perfectly! And gives me time to grab a Starbucks and maybe a treat for everyone to share when I meet back up with them in DL.
I've done this for three trips, so I can assure you it works!![]()
Thank you very much for your kind reply. Maybe there was a glitch or something on the first time my husband tried doing just what you described, because the machines would not accept our passes (only his), and the CM there told him it was because we weren't scanned in to DCA yet that day.
Glad to hear it is changed since we were there two years ago.
Wait, can I get clarification on this? If you've scanned into Disneyland for the day but have not yet scanned into DCA, you can still get Fastpasses in DCA? For some reason I thought that didn't work. I remember us walking over to DCA, scanning in, handing our passes to DH, then the kids and me turning around and walking out and going back to DLand. We thought you had to be in the park to get the Fastpass.

You're going during one of the busiest times of they year! If it were me, I'd explain to the kids before you go (and more than once) about how crowded it's going to be, and how important it is to get up early and get to the park, so you can get fastpasses. Let them know they can sleep in if they want, but they might not get to ride RSR if they do. The choice is theirs. That way they can't get upset if they decide to sleep in and the fast passes are gone, and you have to wait in a 2 hour stand by line. Set the alarm and when it goes off say "It's time to ride RSR!!"
I agree with this! But all one can do is provide the information whether it's to someone on here, or to our own children. I personally do not like long lines so if I am paying to take my kids to DLR, then they are getting up and we are going early, they can have a rest in the middle of the day if they are tired, when all the people who slept in are waiting in the standby lines for rides we have already ridden several times over by showing up early and getting fast passes. However, not everyone is bothered by long lines - so I agree it's a choice but not one everyone will make the same - what is important to one is not to another.
I'll be honest- I'd never wake my kids up early, esp on vacation. I just don't like being around my kids when they don't wake themselves up naturally, and for them it's like 8:30/9am. I get it.
Yes, but we adjust pretty quickly to new timezones. And it's selfish for me too, because I like to sleep late on vacations. I work a lot and usually don't get home until at least 2am. I hate feeling tired on vacation. But (coming from a fellow Coloradoan), for them it WON'T be 8:30/9am. With the time change, it will be more like 7:30/8am, especially if you keep them on Mt. Time that first night and get them to bed early. Just pretend you're still at home make bedtime the same time it would be in Colorado. Then you can knock out RSR the first morning you're there, even if you have them stay up later the rest of the time.

Exactly. The time zone difference made it much easier to be in the park early, and that was despite the fact that we got into DLH past their bedtime that first night (and then they were so excited that we walked around Downtown Disney briefly). They probably went to bed 2 hours past their usual bedtime that night. We had to wake them up in the morning but the minute they remembered we were at DL, they perked up.But (coming from a fellow Coloradoan), for them it WON'T be 8:30/9am. Well, I guess it's like anything else. You weigh your options and choose your priorities. For us, it's an expensive trip and we like to make the most of the early mornings and lower crowds, so we get the kids to bed early at night. But I can understand the mindset that you're on vacation and don't want an alarm jolting you out if bed first thing. But this is why I selfishly pick less crowded times to go. When we went last week, 2 mornings didn't open until 10. So when we got there around 10:30, we didn't miss much!
The thing is, I can put my kids to bed at 7pm but they will never fall asleep before 11pm on vacation, no matter where we are. We travel quite a bit and I have tried everything. If they fall asleep that late, I just can't stand to try to wake them early.Well, I guess it's like anything else. You weigh your options and choose your priorities. Yes, this can be done, and has been done by many of us.
If all of you go in to Disneyland, one of you can go across to California Adventure with everyone's park tickets, that have been scanned for entry to the Disneyland Park, and get fast passes for Radiator Springs Racers. The rest of the party can remain in Disneyland during this time.
The tickets do not have to be scanned at the California Park entrance turnstiles in order to be used for Radiator Springs Racers.
I did this not too long ago with family. My cousins had gone to Disneyland. Once they were in the park I got all of their tickets and went to California Adventure. I got in line, got fastpasses for everyone, then joined them at Disneyland.
As long as the tickets have been used to enter one of the parks they are then activated to get any fastpass regardless of the park that the attraction is in.
