I need to rent a car while my car is in the shop being repaired. I was hit when I was standing still :confused3. Anyway, my car is going to be there for a minimum of 3 days. The insurance adjuster of their company said they pay 24.95/day for Enterprise. Well the smallest car available is 10.00 more per day then that. ANd my car is an SUV that seats 5! I can't use a compact or economy car for my family, and to be honest I don't feel I should have too.

I have a message into the adjuster to find out what can be done.

I am so not happy. I was standing still with my turn signal on in a grocery parking lot waiting to turn into a spot and this women in a HUGE truck just backs into my car. Did I mention my car is new?? Under 6k miles at the time of the accident? Did I mention that I was nice and gave them the option of paying for it themselves and not using their insurance. Did I mention the running around I had to do to get the estimates? Did I mention I am PISSED OFF!!! ARGH. I am just so frustrated, that she hits me and I am stuck with all this carp!!! I am very thankful that I wasn't hurt and my passenger wasn't either. But I am tired of having to inconvenience myself for just standing still in a darn parking lot!!

Sigh....

If you are 0% at fault you should NOT incur ANY expenses for a rental car and they should give you a comparable car. If you don't get anywhere with their insurance company get YOUR insurance company working on your behalf-that is what you pay them for.

Unfortunately they are only obligated to pay for replacement transportation, not comparable transportation.

I am at 0%, they already sent me a check for the repairs. My insurance said that they had to give me a comparable car. I will wait to see what she says. I am just frustrated at the entire thing. Especially since this is the first car I ordered, to have what I want and the color, and now unless the paint the entire car, the blue is never gonna totally match. I know it might seem silly..but we own cars for years. My old car we had for 10 years, my first car I had for 19 years (our eldest DS drove it for a very long time). I am just annoyed at the entire thing.

I mean if you are driving a tank shouldn't you use your side and rearview mirrors, shouldn't those hugh SUV/Trucks come with a back up camera, my crossover/suv has one?? :confused3

Depends on the policy. Some policies are for comparable transportation.

It isn't fair (and yes, I know first hand that life is not fair..been there done that). My DH can't physically fit in a economy car. He is too tall and umm...pooh sized. And with the current back/shoulder medical issues he is currently dealing with, it would physically harm him to get into such a small car, if that is my only option. It also isn't fair that my time for doing all this carp isn't being compensated. I am so frustrated. I am also annoyed because the person that hit me, wanted me to use her DH's dent guy. Ummm...NO.

That is not true. If you are using your OWN policy you get what you pay for (we have $20/day for example) but in a situation where someone is at no fault, the other insurance company is obligated to pay for ALL of the rental car on a comparable car. They may TRY to do what the op is finding because they will try to get away with paying as little as possible but if she gets her insurance company to deal with it, she will find herself with an SUV paid at 100%. Given that I have worked in the insurance industry for many years and you work in the tv industry, who would you rather listen to??

If you had to miss work because of an accident, you SHOULD be compensated for lost wages and your time.

It sounds like you are getting the run around. You should get a comparable vehicle for rental at 100%, you should get compensation for missed work, and your vehicle should be repaired to pre-accident condition. I can bet it will take longer to get the vehicle repaired than estimated. It usually does.

Gofgal is right.

I've had a similar accident situation happen to me, and you shouldn't settle for less.

Glad you weren't hurt and so sorry about your new car . Unfortunately I know this pain and aggravation all too well, as thru no fault of our own our Jeep has been hit twice in past 18 mos. First time it was totalled and took DH weeks to find an affordable replacement Jeep to buy, second time it was repariable, but took 3 wks.

DH is 6'1" and has had surgery on both knees for osteo, so prefers SUV's. We requested a comparable rental car and a Jeep was furnished w/o any flack. I wish you luck w/everything as I know this painstaking inconveniece one had to go through more than I ever wanted. :guilty:

Got a response back from the adjuster. A full size car has been reserved for me!! :thumbsup2
