Car in SpaceShip Earth

This is such a cool old thread. I drove a green Vega wagon in 1987 to my first job (cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash cans at a Gulf station). For anyone who never got the experience of driving a Vega, I wish I could share the vibration in the cabin when the car idled. Wow. It could knock your amalgams loose.

One other note: when this thread first hit the Dis in 2010, an AP cost $489. And we all thought it was too expensive.

All these years and we have been too chicken to take a flash picture. DH says it is an early 70's Vega/Astre notchback before they had the required 5 MPH impact bumpers.......so it appears to be no later than a 1973 model.

Oh yeah...........if only we could renew our AP for 489!

Oh man, now my sense of reality is crushed! I did a Google search to see what kind of car Hewlett or Packard drove to see if the Spaceship Earth scene is accurate. I found the Wiki page - let's just say, WAY off! H-P was founded in a one car garage...in 1935, not in the 1970's that the car in the scene would suggest. In fact they would have had to go back to the garage decades after H-P had gone public. Guessing they didn't do that.

Here's the link. Prepare to be disappointed;
