Hella Everyone !! :p :p

Can anyone who has just come back from the States, tell me how much one gallon of gas will cost, also how many gallons will fill an intermediate car of a "Vectra" type sized car.

The reason i ask is that i have the option of upgrading my car hire to the "gold" service for £24. And this gives you a free tank of gas and an extra driver (which i do not want as my DW will not drive over there).
I personnaly think a tank of fuel will work out cheaper than £24(english pounds).

Also our theme park tickets arrived today. Do you have to print and sign your name on the reverse of the Orlando Flex tickets prior to gaining entry into the parks on your first visit ??
On the reverse of the tickets it also states you have to sign your signature each time you visit one of the parks....is this true ??

Thank you in advance for your help. :smooth: :smooth:

We were there in May and I think it was about $1.83 a gallon (give or take a cent ;) ) and the tanks take about 15-16 gallons, so it will be cheaper at the pump than taking the full tank option. However, you have to take it back full. Can you be bothered? Do you want the $50 charge (or maybe more) if you can't?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, i have been told you do not take the car back at the end of your holiday with a full tank - you pay for the full tank when you pick it up !!

When we were there last we had to sign the back of our flex tickets and then sign on a special list at the turnstiles every time we went through. (it wasn't an issue though, very quick)

I would definately pay up front for the tank of fuel etc.

We paid locally $58 for the first tank on collection but subsequently each fill-up we managed to get a maximum of $23 in the tank from almost empty. What a con!

I queried this on return of vehicle and they qouted a whole list a extras, handling charges and taxes which make up the amount. They also said that the last quarter of the tank is a reserve on the vehicle I had (A Dodge Grand Caravan 7 seater) and will not show above the 'red' on the fuel needle. Even the trip computer did not show it.

I'm still waiting for a reply from my bitter e-mail.......

On the cost of fuel, It was at lowest $1.62 per US gallon (80% of a UK gallon) in May although the further away from Disney, the price drops.

I managed to find on a search engine a US site called gas watch or something which lists literally thousands of petrol stations with accurate day to day prices. More than 2 dozen were quoted within a 10 mile radius of Disney.

I can't remember the site address but it was useful!!

I think we've got our wires crossed, Andy! What I was trying to say is that, if you decide not to take the option which includes the free tank of petrol, although you may save yourself a bit of money, you'll have to fill it up before you take it back. For us, the hassle isn't worth it - we'd rather pay over the odds for the initial tank.

Just came back last week and the cost of a US gallon was from $1.35 to $1.40 in our localit, although I did see it up to about $1.60 in places (I-Drive etc). The most I paid to fill up my 7 seater van was $20 and that was in WDW.

By the way $1.40 per US gallon (they're smaller) equates to about £1.10 per UK gallon or 24 p per litre. Depressing isn't it?

We always pay up front, in the UK, for a tank of gas and extra drivers (apart from the first time!) because my wife also drives and it saves a fortune.

Hello Aceman,

How can they warrant charging $58 for a full tank or fuel, yet it only cost you $23 to fill it yourselves ??

Who was the hire company that loaned the car.....we are using Almo.

I think on this info, i shall try and get the upgrade before we travel.

Thanks for this.

Hi,

Surprise, surprise, the company we used were Dollar (as in extract as many from you as possible).

I think on my next visit I will be shopping around more.....

Hello,

I have taken all the advice given....upgraded the car to an intermidiate and gone for the "gold" package (free tank of fuel).

Thanks again.
