We have never driven before in Orlando as we normally stay on site. Our Travel agent is currently qouting £138 for a small car!! is this good or bad...this is only for a week from sanford airport

any recommendations gratefully receved

I have used Expedia before - they give a few different rates. Make sure you know what the price includes from your TA - such as all insurances or a tank full of petrol - extra drivers if need be - so you are comparing like for like

Would you book now? or do rates drop closer to the time( we go in september) the website given earlier is £35 cheaper than my travel agent

I like to get mine sorted - so book when I am happy with the price. Sometimes there are bargains and someone will post - we were lucky to get one for our December trip

also try opodo, netflights as well,also go through quidco to get a discount also includes expedia

If booking so far in advance I advise going with one that allows you to cancel for a little or no fee.
I thought I had a good price for August but now cancelled as I found a rate £45 less.

Just had a quick look AutoEurope look the cheapest via Quidco who give 8.5% back http://www.quidco.com/auto-europe/?ac

small car will be £98.79 less the 8.5% = £90.39

Add a tank of gas & upto 3 additional drivers if required £126.55 less 8.5% = £115.79

Probably worth the extra £25.40 the way price of gas is going.
* Auto Europe has no cancellation fee when Auto Europe is advised 48 hours prior to the reserved rental start date.

This would be £121.20 less 9% Quidco = £110.30 incl tank of gas and additional drivers.
But they have cancellation fees, waived for a £5.50 fee.
7 or more days before start date £15
3-6 days before start date 50%
0-2 days before start date 75%

Don't think it really matters what time of year its just looking for an offer or when you are happy with price.

With Auto Europe can you have the tank of gas but without the additional drivers or is that just standard, I have had a look on the web site but can't see an option for the gas with just 1 named driver!

Your options are 1 driver and no gas or:
Gold Rate - Includes 3 additional drivers and tank of fuel
The smallest car you will get is a Chevy Aveo with a 12 gal tank, at $3.40 that = $40.80 or £25.35. Exactly same price as paying for the Gold option but chances are you will get a car with a bigger tank so they charge you more at the desk, I would prepay at only £25 even if you got a free upgraded to a SUV you still wouldn't pay any more.

Oh thats great, thank Wayne, its hard to know which car to use size wise as we have 3 suitcases (1 each) and a lot of them say they accomodate 1 with smaller baggage, nearly got caught out last year when I booked it through Cosmos, the woman behind the desk at Alamo tried to charge us over £100 extra (plus fuel and toll charges) by saying it wasn't legal for my daughter (who was 14) to sit in the back with luggage???? I checked with my rep who said that was a load of rubbish, so I went back and said no, got outside and the car attendant gave us a larger one for free anyway, so he got a nice tip
