car hire great price I think

I think the £60 was because I upgraded from a small car to an intermediate. So the insurance was just £210, quite please with that considering the quotes her are in the £400 range! :D

Quotes above are for 7 seaters and SUV's, an intermediate car would cost around £230-240 for 14 days fully inclusive so you paid slightly more but not too much. It always annoys me when the free car is more expensive than paying for one elsewhere.

When we used to book package never had their car as it was so expensive, found deals much cheaper.

Agree though would never go out there without fully or platinum insurance, we tend to do plat so i have a tank of fuel and take back empty, i know we lay more for this but dont mind really

Where's that from? Just compared on carhire3000.com and a 4 door intermediate is £273 so I got a whopping £3 off! :lmao:

Best I can see is via this deal http://www.quidco.com/carrentals-co-uk/
Shows Dollar cheapest at £234.51 less 7% Quidco = £218.09
Personally I wouldn't pay the extra £3 for 4 door, rented over 30 cars in the US, always book 2 dr, always get 4 dr, they don't generally stock 2 dr, not saying they don't get the odd one but I have never seen one.

This looks a very good rate for Oct, just checked our dates in July/Aug 14 days £378.82 less 7%

With 3 kids, two in car seats, it's essential we have a 4 door, I'd hate to take the risk and be stuck with a two however unlikely, would completely ruin our holiday.

I didn't even think about getting a car elsewhere, even though I'd heard it's best to do that last time, but that was 2009 and I'd forgotten! lol Definitely will be doing that next time.

If you choose your own car then they don't have a seperate area for 2 dr, they are all together, take any you want. If you are allocated a car there is a chance of 2 dr but as I say I have never seen one in all the trips I have done.

which company do Autoeurope use, flying into TPA next aug, got a price for a grand jeep cherokee 20 nights £513, is the desk actually within the terminal as oppossed to getting a shuttle etc?

Last one I rented with them in Oct was from Tampa, Jeep Grand Cherokee or similar, Rental company was Dollar. Car we actually got was a 7 seater Chevrolet Traverse.
One before that was Dodge Caravan 7 pax or Similar from Dollar MCO.

I thought I had rented from them and collected from Alamo at TPA but I was mistaken it was Holiday Autos who supplied Alamo.

All the main rental companies are onsite at TPA just as they are at MCO.

There are some good prices on Expedia at the moment. Not ideal for everyone as i think if you want additional drivers you have to arrange it locally.

Not bad but still more than I want to pay, £476 for 18 days 7 seater, I want extra driver and tank of gas for that.:rotfl:

As for additional driver with Expedia when you get the quote click on "detailed car rules and restrictions" It gives you all the details for your rental with fees they charge, the £476 above was with Budget, this is what it said:

Additional Driver
Fees subject to change
All states except New York: $10.00 per day per driver; maximum $50.00 per rental per driver.
New York: $5.00 per day per driver.
Minimum age for additional drivers is 25 years.
These fees are paid locally and are subject to all applicable taxes and surcharges.

I would print that off and take, the contract you have says the max they can charge is $50, great for long rentals.
