Looking for opinions here...
I have a midsize car at Alamo for next weekend, pick up 11pm on Fri 10/7, drop off 4 pm on Tues 10/11, for $109 with taxes, etc. included. I think that's a pretty good price given the current rates for next weekend! I have been trying to get a better price but can't, and when I use a search engine for pricing, neither Alamo nor National come up with availability, so I am guessing this means they are sold out. I would still like to save some money, so am considering Priceline. My questions for the experienced:
What agencies are usually used with Priceline? I know they will be the "in airport" locations, but is there on company that shows up more regularly?
What do you think Alamo and National showing no availability (Orbitz, carrental.com, etc) for next weekend? I know they have guaranteed me a car, but will I get what I reserved? Maybe an upgrade? Will they give me a credit if the midsize isn't available and I have to take a smaller car?
Should I bother with wasting the time trying to bid, or just be happy with what I have? As I said, I've been following rates for this time period and I think this is pretty good as it is.
TIA!
