Car broken into--have question

It seems that somebody rifled through our neighborhood and ransacked peoples cars last night/this morning.

Only change was taken out of DH's car --maybe $5 worth. My Ipod wiring and wallet was out and the $1 or $2 I had in there is gone. Thankfully, my Ipod was in the house! Some of my neighbors had more things stolen like a GPS or cash, so we got lucky.

I did change my credit cards/ATM even though they were still in the car. Who knows with camera phones what they can do? There were no transactions, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Now, since I cancelled my ATM card, will I actually have to go inside the bank and write a check for cash for money until my new card comes? I was just wondering about that.

I know its minor compared to other things, but just wondering.

Check with your bank, the bank that I work at offers temporary atm cards. Other than that I believe you would have to go in to get cash or if you don't need much cash just write your check over the amount at the grocery store for cash back. Good luck.

DH and I just got our replacement ATM cards yesterday b/c we thought I lost mine and cancelled it. Of course about 3 hrs after I cancelled the cards we found it under the kitchen island. We still had to wait for our new cards, though.
What I ended up doing was going through the drivethru of the credit union (without a slip b/c I lost that as well!!), gave them my license and told the teller how much money I wanted.
I know that at some stores you can also write a check for a few dollars (usually $20-$40)more than your purchase and get cash back.
I'm sorry to hear that someone went through your cars.
I had the same thing happen to me a few years back and I didn't realize that anyone had been in there until I was driving to work and the trunk popped open on it's own. Apparently they checked the whole car for anything valuable (they only got change) and were smart enough to not slam the trunk.
