Car Accident Insurance Info please!

My friend is visiting for a few days. He used to live with me but moved to CA in December. He was just driving my car and hit a parked car that belongs to my neighbor's friend. WHY the kid parked on my side of the driveway, right behind my car, is an unanswerable question, but anyway...
My understanding is that since he still has MA car insurance, the claim goes through his company and I am not involved. His insurance company should cover the other kid's deductible since he was not at fault. My car had no damage so that should be it, right?
I'm just a little paranoid because I just got laid off from my job and can't afford a surcharge or a lawsuit right now.
Oh great, my friend just said that the kid said his dad works for an insurance company. He can't like sue me for my house or anything over a dented door can he? Like I said, just a little paranoid here!

Frankly, the surcharge on your insurance could be high. Any chance the person who borrowed the car will step up to the plate (so insurance isn't involved)?

This is why I refuse to borrow anyone's car or let anyone borrow mine. Too complicated.

Here in NY the payout on the accident over $1,000 is chargeable but the accident charge follows the driver. YOu policy will pay out as you are the vehicles owner. They may try to subrogate against the drivers policy it all depends on the company. I don't know how MA insurance is.

I forgot to specify that we both have MA insurance, which is different from just about everywhere else. Anyone in MA know how this works here?

I really think the points will go on his insurance since he's not a household member. He feels terrible about it anyway.

Ultimately you are responsible for what your car does. I'd be mortified if I were your friend and would step up to cover the damage and keep your insurance out of it.
