Caption Needed for Engagement Picture Gone Wrong

I def. agree they are trying for the dance-esque dip. She is wearing a high slit dress and if that personally isn't to your taste okay but no where in a million years would I think they are trying to go at it

Not everyone is trying to even go for professional staged, posed photos. Some just want honesty, in the moment, real "hey this is us" type photos mixed in with some more posed styles. We don't need to assume something went wrong either or they are are unhappy with how the photos came out (unless the OP is personally acquainted and can attest to them being unhappy or it's out there somewhere them quoting that).

My caption would be nothing more than "a beautiful couple in love"

Well the dress isn't too my taste but you kind of missed the point, it isn't about the style of dress, it's about her being in that position with the dress on. It isn't a good look IMO.

I get what they were going for, but they missed the mark. I also get that not everyone sees it the same as me, and that is OK- you are entitled to what you "see" and I am entitled to "see" what I do. That is the beauty of art

If this captures this couples' sense of humor or general awkwardness, then it's a perfect shot. Who are we to judge l'amour, no?

The second shot looks better, but it's hard to say if these were really pro shots or just their friend snapping pics on the fly.
I think a pro would opt for a shallow depth of field so the couple would be in clear focus against a blurry, busy background.

Most wear high slits to show off the legs. She's accomplishing that. I didn't miss the point at all, but I agree with DLgal..that is not how you go at it unless you know something we don't know Besides not everyone's mind is in the gutter

I agree it looks awkward, and others probably have it right, it's a new photographer or a friend who agreed to do it. But I still disagree with your title "gone wrong".

It seems like they were trying to have a little fun. If both of them were laughing I think it would’ve had a different effect.

But I also agree, the composition wasn’t that good, nor were the subjects in focus, etc. Photgraphically rather amateur.

It does look to me that they were trying to highlight “the ring” while fooling around. I fixed it a little to get some of the excess crap out of the shot - maybe a little better?

If you really want to be fancy, need to find a way so the "glow" off the water highlights the ring. I think that would be difficult to shoot and hard to accomplish in post.

I'm assuming OP is one of the ones in the picture, because otherwise I'm not sure what the point is. I think the people in the pictures look very happy, but I hope whoever took the pictures didn't charge them anything.

I think the first picture is a very awkward pose. If they were going for the "dip", he dipped her way too far. As for the second picture, just going to give some womanly advice, learn to sit like a lady in a dress .

Yes you did miss the point and you keep missing the point.
I know you like to argue with everyone here on every thread so I'm not sure why I am bothering but I will say it again.
People will see any art, in this case a photo and get an impression from it. An impression, not the actual act of having sex (in this specific one). Now, if you can't figure out other ways than the vanilla way well OK you probably wouldn't get that impression, like I said maybe some of us are a little more creative, inventive and adventurous in that department

And we are all to pass judgment, you clicked on this thread and commented just the same as everyone else.
But I am sure you'll post with some novella telling us why you are not as judgmental as the rest of us in 3.2.1...............
