Captain EO??

Captain EO is great! Yeah, it's cheesy sci-fi, but the music is so good and it''s alwyas fun for me to relive it. I can understand that it hasn't held up particularly well and should be replaced at some point, but I have enjoyed being able to see it again. As long as they release a DVD or something after it closes I'll be okay with that.

I would advise to avoid at all costs... Biggest waste of time at Disney... It's like a really long, 3-d music video... It's a sci-if theme and like 20 minutes long... The 3d is really poor and blurry... IMO the worst attraction there is at disney.. And I am a Michael Jackson fan...

:thumbsup2

Saw it in '87.
Saw it in 2012.
Wasn't impressed either time.
Won't be seeing it in '14.....
Disney can do better than milking the passing of a Pop Star.
On that note.
God, please don't let them make a Miley Cyrus 3D video.........

There was talk about 4-5 years ago about retheming RnRc to Hannah Montana, thankfully that did not happen.

Worst attraction at WDW. Also, very long. Could not wait for it to it to end. I like 80s movies in general. This wasn't nostalgic. It was brutal.

This show is a great example of Disney's complete and utter neglect of Epcot. Figment is downstairs and not much better. The entire area is a joke and should be leveled. Imo Disney should be embarrassed of it. Elen's energy adventure is another old and empty attraction.

Wow - so, the redones for Mission:Space, Test Track, Soarin', and Nemo are forgotten? And why the dislike for Ellen's Energy Adventure? As far as I know the message that is being given in that attraction is still valid.

Disney has complete and utter neglect of Epcot but still improves the Flower and Garden Festival? They added the Sounds Like Summer concerts? They still have quality entertainment in every Showcase pavilion? You can dine at 11 different countries (OK, I admit, with various results)?

^ This. It's not my favorite attraction or even my favorite 3d show, but its still fun to see. Great thing to hit if you are waiting for your Fp+ timeslot somewhere else. (And no, you should not need a FP+ for it. It's never crowded on days that aren't Dec 31/Jan 1)

It wasn't crowded on December 31st either. :)
I think of it as old classic show that's a nice break from get running around.

It's Horrible. Let's see what do I expect. I expect that a major corporation that owns it's own movie empire, with all the up to date technology could easily revive this dude. This was 10 minutes of my life totally wasted. OP, avoid at all cost.

Exactly!! I expect something worth the money I am paying... This was something I would expect to come across on VH1 at like 2 am... Even if they wanted to keep this for some reason I would have to imagine they could digitally remaster the picture and upgrade the 3d... If I am supposed to be entertained by 1980's technology, then I would like to pay 1980's prices...

I love Epcot, but Ellen's energy adventure was the worst thing from our last trip. The message actually seemed outdated to me because it seemed to shill for big energy corporations and was made before the bp oil spill and the fracking controversies, etc....

I won't go back to that one even if no wait or I'm dying of heat.

I miss horizons, but I enjoy test track, soarin, spaceship earth, and mission space. My daughter really liked the journey in the seas stuff.

Not a fan of this attraction, but will be doing it next trip as some of my family members have not been & want to try it. Found it very Unexciting to say the least, but not completely a waste. Really wish they would bring back Honey I Shrunk the Audience-which my kids really miss! As old as that was looking, this is much cheesier & older looking.
Or better yet-put in something new all together. :)
PS Love Ellen :thumbsup2

Heck if they put it the 3-d version of Frozen and played a couple of the music scenes they would have a line out the door and take some of the crowd from Soarin and Test Track...

If you have time to kill, sit outside the theater as people file out and watch/listen to them when they come out. Hysterical.

I took my boys in to see it when it was first re-released. They are very respectful boys, but they couldn't stop laughing during the show. Their laughter was contagious, and pretty soon the entire theater was laughing - including the CMs.

Yeah, it is that bad. If you go, go only to see the reactions of others or to get a laugh at the cheesiest film running.

Just goes to show, to each his own. I seriously dislike Dumbo/Flying Carpets/Triceratops Spin, and Small World, and Buzz Lightyear, but some people have them at the top of the "don't miss" list.

Going to see Captain EO won't kill you. I wouldn't recommend choosing it over Test Track or Soarin' or something, but if you have time to kill, it's worth trying.

Captain Weirdo is the worst, the biggest waste of time in all of WDW. It was another Disney knee jerk reaction that came to life after MJ died. Disney was just trying to capitalize on his perceived popularity, which was exacerbated by the media coverage after his death

It's terrible, but I think it's a hoot nonetheless. You can't really go in with any expectations that it will be anything great. For me it was an attraction where the badness was part of its charm. I would make a distinction between badness that is (or, judging by many responses, can be) fun to sit through and badness that is just flat out unbearable (Tiki Room UNM). I'm sure I'm alone in this but I love it despite its awfulness and I will make time for it every time I visit until it's gone (I do admit however that it really shouldn't be there anymore).

Disney had a tired honey I shrunk the audience attraction on its hands, that needed re-Imagineering. MJ’s death pretty much fell into their lap, giving them the perfect opportunity to dig up Captain EO and use same as a stop/gap attraction, while a new, more permanent attraction could be imagineered. Also, the budget was already stretched with the plans for FP+, the Fantasyland expansion and Avatarland at AK, and the other pre-planned improvements around the world. I expect Captain Weirdo will run its course, once these other projects are completed. I would bet an entirely new Imagination Pavilion has already been Imagineered, and Figment will be gone as well, when the next set of projects are announced.
