Captain EO

I like it. It's cheezy as hell, the effects that were absolutely state of the art then are horrible now. But, it's a total time warp. I think anyone who grew up in the 90s or later will probably hate it, as they won't have an attachment to the time.

I'm a heavy metal person, but respect MJ for his music and skills. He was a one of a kind performer, like there may never be again. So, still seeing him, in his prime, is a must do each trip that I can, because I'm sure his days are numbered as EO.

If you are asking about it, it means you haven't seen it, and you MUST see it once. Besides, what else will you do after you use your one FP+ for the day, wait in long lines?

I read a rumor about them developing a Star Wars 3D movie for Tomorrwland at DL (where Captain EO is at DL). If they are looking to use the existing theater then it would probably go in at Epcot as well. This was a while ago though the SW plans are on hold as far as I understand.

It only makes sense. If not in the Capt EO space then perhaps re-utilizing the Wonders of Life Pavilion considering there is nothing there.

I loved it as a child.

I loved that they brought it back so my kids could see it (they do enjoy some MJ music!). :goodvibes

But now, I do think someone needs to wave a magic wand and make something else appear. Time for something new. pixiedust:

Huge Michael Jackson fan. I loved Captain EO when I was a kid. I was extremely surprised when they brought it back. Seen it twice in the past 2 trips to EPCOT. Even bought a shirt and button.

But I'm good now. Got my nostalgic fix. I'm ready for Futureworld to move to the future instead of being retroworld.

we like Captain EO, but we were MJ fans back in the day. And we most definitely prefer the sci-fi/Star Wars type story line for Epcot. We went to Captain EO multiple times when it was new...and we go every time we're at Epcot since they returned EO to Epcot.

We absolutely hated Honey I Shrunk the Audience...thought it was really lame - saw it once and decided never again. Kids agreed with adults on that one.

That said, it would be wonderful if they came up with a brand new show for that theater.:thumbsup2

HISTA was horrendous. I'd take EO over that garbage any day. EO is great! I don't even like Michael Jackson, but it's all about the filmmaking genius that went into that film.

EO = 3D/4D elements, music, a cute little storyline, and a message about changing the world with music, and Francis Ford Coppola & George Lucas...

Stitch = nothing happens....a shell of what Alien Encounter used to be...

Choosing Stitch over EO is clearly mindboggling.

I liked HISTA. I saw it once in 1997 and I remember the part where the mice brushed against my feet. Creepy!

I saw Captain EO for the first time this past November. I thought it had a bit of a slow start but it got better by the end. I think HISTA was better though.

As we exited Soarin a week or so ago, we heading to the right and my wife and I stopped and looked at each other...what's Captain EO ?? So with time to kill we did the show with about 10 other people....I doubt if any of them knew who MJ was and the cast member did his best get us into the show. I liked the music but campy would be a good description of the show.

In all the times we have visited WDW and Epcot, I don't ever remember seeing the show, but it was fun.

When I was a kid, I thought the technology and story were so much better than its predecessor, Magic Journeys. I remember a special laser show projected on SSE and the music from the show being pumped out of the FW speakers on my way out of the park after a preview weekend. My whole family really liked it.

Now, I find it kind of embarassing. I couldn't bring myself to take DH to see it the last time we were there. Just thinking about it made my cheeks flush. My Dmom and Dsis saw it at the end of last year and commented about how dated it was.

I would love to see something new there. I'd really love it if the new feature had not only Figment but also Dreamfinder, but I am almost certain that would never happen.

I totally agree with you. It is dated and needs something new. Even Figment got a "face-lift" ... while it wasn't for the better it was at least an honest attempt to modernize that area.

I would be happy to see a new 3D film in here (as long as it was an ORIGINAL concept and not another PIXAR themed attraction), but I would pick EO over HISTA any day.

We use Capt EO as a threat for DS. Be nice or we'll go see EO. Shuts him right up. He also doesn't like the music for MSEP so there is no accounting for taste.

ITA. It's horrid. And having the CMs pretend to be excited over this "retro" and "campy" attraction is pathetic.

It's embarrassing that they are still showing this at EPCOT...speaks volumes about how badly Future World needs an update.

:thumbsup2 ::yes:: Thanks. Saved me having to write the same thing.
