Captain EO

I like it! And so does everyone else in my family, including my 16 and 18yo. It's our retro 80's happy place!

In fact, I just saw my son in his rainbow Captain Eo tee the other day. Though, to be fair, he may have been wearing it ironically (he does everything ironically, these days). :lmao:

I was at Epcot two years ago and don't remember this being there??:confused3 Never saw it before so would someone be willing to give a brief description... is it a movie starring MJ? Apx. how long is it?

At the time it was made it would have been called an extended length music video, remember them, they used to play on MTV. :)

Its a 3D, well kind of 4D because the room shakes a bit and there are other effects, movie thats around 20 or so minutes long.

Pretty sure it was around 2 years ago, it replaced Honey I shrunk the Audience but anyway its pure 80's camp. I saw it once but no need to see it again.

Is it just me or do the "bad" guys in EO look like the Borg in star trek?

Thanks for the reply. Hmmm, I think we rode Figment so no idea how we missed Eo, haha. Oh well we might give it a go this time.

Two years ago we were there to watch our son's HS band march and I'm pretty sure you were one who gave me some good band trip advice chartle! :thumbsup2

It's not just you!

From http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Captain_EO: "The design of the Borg Queen from Star Trek: First Contact was influenced by the Supreme Leader."

From http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Borg_Queen: "In an early design meeting for the Borg Queen the movie Captain Eo was mentioned, regarding Anjelica Huston's performance as a villainous woman who lived in the ceiling and would descend on cables."

Basically, both Trek and Eo fans agree. Captain Eo was likely an inspiration for the design of the Borg. Which is awesome! :thumbsup2

I just have to say that I love this show. I was born in 1979 so I was a kid in the 80's and this really brings me back to when music really could change the world. Love it.

Watching it for 15 minutes is like getting in a time machine and being a kid again. My kids love it too, especially my 6 year old daughter.

I think captin eo is a good example of how much the current CEOs of disney do not want spend any money in Epcot to updated even though it is badly needed.

While I enjoy Captain EO and was glad Disney brought it back as a tribute to Michael Jackson after his death, it's definitely time for it to go. Actually, if it were up to me, I'd close off the Imagination Pavilion for a major refurb to come up with a new updated, modern edition of the ride, based off the original Journey Into Imagination. Then I'd have a new 4D movie with Phineas and Ferb because, given the things they build and things they do in their show, I think they'd be a perfect addition to the Imagination Pavilion.
