Anyone else love the Cheesiful Captain EO? I'm a child of the 80's and remember Michael Jackson back in the day before he was... Werid.

"We are here to save the world."
:cutie:

*raises hand*...yeppers!! I have not seen it yet, but it is on my to-do list!! I am a child of the 80's as well and a big MJ fan!! Cannot wait!!!:worship::banana:

I love it! Especially the seats bouncing to the beat. Hilarious! My DD (almost 6) loves it and can't wait to go back. She talks a lot about how she thinks that the best thing to do with bad guys is not to kill them or put them in jail, but turn them into good guys. :)

I like it very much! The songs are so catchy, even if aspects of the plot are confusing at best. The CMs seem to have a lot of fun with it too. I saw it three times last trip and hope to see it another time or two in October!

We saw it in May..still good..but..umm..much cheesier than I remembered!

Count me in for the Captain EO Fan Club, too

I was 9 years old & a HUGE MJ fan when it opened; my parents (bless them) stood in line with me for HOURS to see it the first week the show opened.

When I saw the show again for the first time in years last April, the lights in the theater went out, the movie started, and suddenly I was 9 years old again. :rotfl:

We forced our kids to see EO last week and they all liked it way more than they expected.

Truthfully, I did not like EO way back in the 80's when I saw it. I was expecting to not like it and was very surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Not sure what I was thinking in the 80's but EO is pretty fun and definitely worth doing IMO. :)

I was 5 years old the first time I saw Captain EO. That witch freaked me out so bad that it is a wonder that I ever wanted to go back to Disneyland at all. Still, all these years later, I can't wait to go back and see it again (going in September). My mom raised my brother and I on Michael Jackson's music and, despite the sheer terror of those 3D claws coming at my face, I remember Captain EO as being one of the coolest performances of Michael Jackson's career. :cool2:

Saw it when it first opened and thought it was the coolest thing. Finally saw it again 2 weeks ago with my DD13 and her reaction was wonderful! She thought it was the coolest thing - where as I couldn't help but laugh through it because of the cheesy 80sness. What a flash back. But still glad I got to see it again. Was just as entertaining 20+ years later. :cool1:

I thought it was pretty good but I think it was my wife's favorite part of the trip.

Ugh. It was worse than Battlefield Earth (which I expected to be bad but, wow, not that bad). After BE, I just wanted my 2 hours back. After Captain EO, I felt insulted. The plot, the characters, the effects (even considering when it was made), the script.

If you can't embrace the cheesiness, you can't enjoy the show! :)

My daughter is 4 and she LOVES Michael Jackson. Is Captain EO suitable for a child that age?
The only thing I can think of that is potentially a concern are the scary characters to which MJ (EO) is trying to give a gift. They look scary and feel scary. At first. But then they are "freed" by EO. If the child can handle scary characters then I think EO is otherwise fine and worthwhile. :)

I dragged the family to Captain EO last week to satisfy my teenage memories of it. The kids thought it was kind of cheesy, but I'm glad I went one last time for nostalgia's sake.

I certainly hope they are planning something really cool for when they close Captain EO and not just bring back HISTA.

It was hilariously cheesier than I remembered it. But I guess when I saw it last all that stuff was still almost in style, not decades outdated! The mullets! The leotards! And the dancing that was AMAZING then was kind of amateurish now!

I think it's fine for a four year old IF they're not afraid of 3D effects and IF you're not offended by some mild crotch grabs in MJ's dancing.

Haha! :rotfl:

Nope. We all love MJ at our house. She's seen most of his videos and even the movie This is It. I'm pretty sure she's seen enough crotch grabs already that it wouldn't even faze her!

I think she'll be ok with the 3D. We did the Ford Truck Plant Tour in Detroit (we don't live too far from it) and it has a "sensory movie" that blows air, spits water, and blasts heat. She does fine with that.

My 5 year old is not easily afraid but she did take off the 3D glasses during the part where the supreme leader is reaching out with her claws - it is pretty creepy. She still loved the show and wanted to see it over and over, but the 3D was too scary in some parts. I had her put the glasses back on when things started turning good. :)

Maybe I am wrong, but I'm thinking the cheesiness was part of its charm in the 80s too.
