We have had lunch at Cap'n Jack's for awhile. DH use to love to eat the crab cake sandwich there. And probably a year or so ago when we went there, they still offered that. But was not fixed in the same way, and just not as good according to him.
Well, since we had not been there in awhile and a res was easy to book, I did, we went and I was looking forward to it.
It was good.... But we were both disappointed not to see what we think of as a traditional lunch menu.
Apparently they have an all day menu. Which did not include a crab cake sandwich of course.
I assume they went to an all day menu to make cooking and serving easier. And I am guessing they wanted to entice DDP-ers to select them for lunch also, rather than just dinner.
However we were not on the DDP, and were looking more for lunch fare.
Although we did manage to "choke" down what we ordered.
Me: Penne Pasta Alfredo, and I added Blue Crab Meat. (How can you go wrong with crab meat?
)
DH: Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes - with cajun mustard aioli, green asparagus tips, and roasted garlic red skin potatoes.
We both thought our food was really good. My pasta was cooked perfect. Wasn't too colorful, and no veggies.... But what I had was good, and I even brought half of it home.
I think the only disappointments were no lunch menu, and I wish mine had had something of a veggie. But I know many restaurants follow this hoping the guest will order a salad. But that would have been way too much food. What I had was plenty as it was.
By chance I have a lunch ADR for Saturday again. But I think I will cancel it. I would really prefer a lunch menu.
But what we had was good. And we were in and out in no time.
