Has anyone eaten there recently ? How is the food? DH is afraid it will be like Captain D's or LJ Silvers!!!!! :rolleyes2

We havent eaten there recently, but it was maybe 2001. It was really good. It is not "fast fooD" seafood. I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is cool too with a great view of DTD. :)

Repulsive. The worst restaurant in WDW - I'd rather starve. It's probably the worst reviewed restaurant on this board too.

The lakeside view is indeed lovely. I suggest arriving early, ordering drinks and appetizers at the bar, and saving the big bucks for someplace else.

We ate there January 2004...it didn't really leave a lasting impression one way or the other. It wasn't horrible, but not good enough to lick the plate either. Matter of fact, I don't think I finished my meal which, for me, is a very rare occurrence! The only really negative thing I can remember was the key lime pie had a graham cracker crust and they used creme fresh instead of whipped cream. The view is quite amazing though...maybe a better lunch spot than dinner.

July 2005 (2 weeks ago) The clam chowder was good. The rest was eatable, nothing fabulous. Went at an off time when the place was practically deserted (about 3-4pm), the service sucked (excuse my french) and the table was dirty. The menu is very limited but certainly not fast food. More like a Red Lobster type place but not as good. It was not totally nasty but I won't eat there again.

I liked it years ago, and I mean years ago, back in the seventies. I haven't read good revues since then however. I liked the Ceviche. It was the only restaurant in WDW that served Ceviche.

We sometimes go to the bar for a drink and an appetizer, but that's it. I'd stay away from the restaurant. There are too many great places to eat in WDW to bother with it.

DisFlan

We ate lunch there in Jan 2005 the food was good. Service also was good. Would eat there again.

Wow, I cannot get over all of the bad reviews about CJ's. We were there last November and ate dinner there twice. Both times, the food was excellent and the service was great. I honestly could not think of one negative thing to say about this restaurant.

Food is great, service is wonderfull. We go there regularly, living just "up the street". Captain Jack's is the last original Disney run restaurant at DTD. We watched over the last 17 or so years as each restaurant at DTD bit the dust and was replaced by an outside vendor {Wolfgang Pucks, Fultons Crabhouse, McDonalds, etc, etc,} Not that there is anything wrong with any of the new places, with the exception of McDonalds, of course, :scared: :faint: You really have to try it and make your own decision.
pookiepoo: I stand by what I said in my post regarding your other thread about Chef Mickey's.

Our Last trip we tried it for the first time in 15 trips and liked it alot. The food was good and reasonably priced. The view of the marina area was cool also. We will do this again next trip.

Fellow Badger here...

We also love Captain Jacks. My sentimental Mother insists on eating there every time because it reminds her of the "old days" at Disney. We typically go at lunchtime and get sandwiches or something light. The menu is pretty limited, so it's not a great place for picky eaters.

My husband's favorite part is the margaritas... it is a tradition for us!

We like to go there for lunch after our shopping. I know Captn Jack's gets panned a lot here but we like it. Everyone has different tastes, likes/dislikes. Wolfgang Pucks Express get a lot of great reviews. But I've eaten there several times and I think it's terrible. I ate there last November. What a waste of money. I couldn't even eat it. Just nasty. So... IMHO, if the menu looks good to you, try it.

Every time we have gone to CJs it has left me with a "lasting" impression. Better then taking an enema! ;)
