Just changed one of our dinner ressies from 50's PT to Cape May Cafe, mainly because we really wanted the crab legs. Do you guys think I made the right choice? I am going with DH, DD7, and DS3. The rest of our dinners are Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Le Cellier, and 1900 PF. We also thought that the boat ride from Hollywood Studios to the Beach Club would be nice for the kids...Thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Personally, I would have stuck with 50s because (a) I love it there - it's so fun and the food is pretty good and (b) you already have a number of buffets in your plan. Out of 5 meals, you already have 3 buffets and this would make 4. And there's no characters - to me that's almost the only reason to do a buffet (except for Boma breakfast), and (c) buffets can be a lot of work when you have a little one - it's nice to be able to sit down and be served.

To me, Cape May was just another Disney buffet - nothing that great about it. In addition to that, I hated the buffet line set up there - I found it very very crowded and confusing when we were there last year - different than the way the other buffets I have been to at Disney were set up.

As for the boat ride, you could do that anyway, if you wanted - take the boat to any of the resorts, but I would go to the Boardwalk and catch the entertainment there.

I've been to 50s Prime Time twice and wasn't real impressed either time. So, with that in mind, I'd go for Cape May. On the other hand, dd15 really enjoyed 50s Prime Time last time we were there.

I would have kept your ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe. A few weeks ago when we went to visit the Beach Club we asked to look around Cape May and we weren't that impressed with it.

With the age of your children they might enjoy 50's Prime Time when they are bit older and can better understand "this is how it was year's ago"!!!! My kids thought it was hysterical but they were older. 50's has comfort food which we like and enjoyed when we were there. The kids can get milk shakes and good ice cream sundaes.

If you like seafood, Cape May, might be a good option for you. But as stated there are no characters at dinner. It is a nice dining room in a very nice hotel. It has a beach theme.

I would look at both menus and decide from there. You can find complete menus for both on the Disney World website under dining.

Enjoy.

We have done both and although the atmosphere was fun at 50s, we just were not that into it. We have younger kids though so it didn't mean to much to them. They really didn't get the atmosphere. They love Cape May Cafe's clam bake. If you like seafood and snow crab legs then there is plenty. No, the atmosphere is not as interesting, but we like the food at Cape May better. To each his own though.

We've eaten at both, and I'd say it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Love seafood (and the lava cake desserts)? Cape May is for you. The staff at Cape May is top notch as well. Seems like a more seasoned staff that know the parks inside and out if you're looking for some friendly advice.

For 50's, it's a different kind of food, more stuff Mom used to make (if you were lucky). The desserts arent half bad there either.

If you're planning on doing stuff in Hollywood studios after dinner, I wouldn't make a a special trip to Cape May's, but if not, it's up to personal choice.

If you're looking for a break from the park, then Cape May. They will have your seafood choices for you. I think the buffet for kids is pretty standard - so as the other poster said, you may be getting more of the same since you have other buffet's planned for the week.

Personally, I love the comfort food at 50's and you can't beat the milkshakes! It's a must do for me every trip.

Both are great choices. I've tried Cape May dinner twice. I love the Seafood. My kids ate the other and thought it was just ok. Maybe we just had too many buffets that trip. The first year i had a reservation for 50's and for some reason i cancelled it. Big mistake. Booked it again this past summer and went. It was one of the best meals we had. I was with my daughter who was turning 13 then and is a picky eater. She loved it. Aside from the food, our waiter was very into the entertainment aspect of the place. We cant wait to go back in August!
