After much delibertion, I have decided to scrap our Chef Mickey breakfast for the one at Cape May. Is Minnie still there (Cape May)? It transpires that the only reason DD has her heart set on returning to CM is because Minnie is there. She also loves Goofy so that is another plus. I just want to make sure that Minnie is one of the static characters at Cape May before doing this.

Next question: best way to get there from POFQ? I won't make a very early ressie as it is going to be on one of our lazy days leading up to a late night. Is it best to go to DTD and then take a bus to the BC?

She is still there as far as I know. SHe was definitely there on our trip last summer. You could take a bus to DHS and either walk or take a boat to the BC

I was just at Cape May Cafe and loved it! Minnie, Goofy, and Donald were there. I agree with the previous poster, take a bus to Studios (or EPCOT) and walk, bus, or boat from there. Have a great trip!

Great! :thumbsup2 I wasn't sure how easy it would be to walk from DHS, although this appeals to me as a nice start to the day. Will I get lost? :rotfl2: Seriously, I could get lost in a paper bag ...... I may just need to leave 2 hours early in case :lmao:

Thanks for the info. That settles it for me :)

We stayed at POFQ and got there by taking a bus to the Studios. We were going to walk to the Beach Club, but then we noticed the boat was there, so we took it instead. I think we left about an hour and a half before our reservation and got there 20 minutes early even though we poked around the Beach Club, looked at Stormalong Bay, etc., on the way from the dock to the restaurant.

There's sort of water right in front of the Studios, that's where the boats are obviously. There's a path around the water on the side opposite the boats, it starts out where the non-Disney buses are. You just follow that path around, it goes past the Boardwalk Villas and then there's a bridge you cross that goes to the Yacht/Beach Club. If you miss it, you can also walk all the way along the Boardwalk past the shops/restaurants and there's another bridge at the other end.

I'm not Robo ;) but his maps are here: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/maps/

Look at "Epcot Resort Area Walking and Transportation Paths." You would follow the pink path from the Studios (at the bottom of the map) around the water to BWV, then when the pink path splits off towards the Boardwalk, follow the orange path over the bridge to Yacht Club/Beach Club. Beach Club is the blue/white one (Yacht Club looks the same but is gray/white) and you go in the main entrance, then the restaurant is off the lobby, to the left.

We did the same thing later the same day when we went to Kouzzina--bus to the Studios, then we walked to the Boardwalk.

FYI:
The walk from Epcot is MUCH closer than the walk from DHS. It won't matter much if you take a boat, but I just thought someone should mention it.

True, but if you go from Epcot, you first have to walk to the entrance of Epcot, go through security, and walk all the way across Epcot. If you go from the Studios, you start walking as soon as you get off the bus.

Thank you for that. I think I am going to print this page with all the wonderful instructions so that I can refer to it. I will plan on leaving at least an hour and a half early. DD knows me so she just takes it in her stride. Every once in a while she say "Mom, are you lost? You have that look. Give me that map." :lmao: Once I have actually found my way somewhere I never forget - I just have trouble with maps if I'm not going north :rolleyes1

So Cape May it is then. :goodvibes

What time are you looking to go to Cape May? I ask this because last week we had ADRs there for 8am and we were too staying at POFQ. Since our ADR was before any of the parks opening, the front desk and transportation line both told us to catch the early morning DHS bus for the H&V character meal, but before boarding the bus, tell the bus driver that we want to go to BC and he will take us. We did what we were told, and the bus driver accommodated us :goodvibes. However, if your ADRs are going to be after the parks are already opened, then I would suggest doing as others have mentioned and take a bus to DHS and either walk over (bit of a hike) or take the nice boat ride over :goodvibes. Have fun, you and your DD will love Cape May (they have Minnie, Donald, and Goofy all dressed in their beach wear).

This is true. We ate at Cape May on the morning of our last day so we had a 9:30 reservation, I think, so we caught a bus about 8:00.

But in general, you should never, ever, ever ask the front desk for transportation advice because they're usually wrong. Ask the transportation CMs (the ones who stand at the bus stop with clipboards) for the real information. I'm glad it worked out for you, but it doesn't always.

The day I am thinking of, I am planning a late bfast, specifically because of the need to allow time to get there. I was actually thinking anytime from 9 am to 11 pm, but the later the better. Hmmm, what to do. I can change it. I've only changed my whole itinerary about 6 times in the last week! I am getting quite good at rearranging in a hurry

I just saw this post now. I think I will stay with the later ressie time in that case. Optimal time would be around 10 am as we have a fairly, but not unreasonably, late night the evening before. Nothing too strenous, but I try and avoid a sunrise start if we stay out 10 pm or later the night before. DD and I do quite well with late nights and I am fine with early mornings if need be, but it is a vacation and I don't want to be any more exhausted than necessary. ;)

We have been to Cape May only one time for breakfast; for that matter this is the only restuarant we have ever done for breakfast at WDW. I personally think the character interaction (Minnie was there) is one of the best we have encountered anywhere in Disney. They took their time and interacted well with the guests; as for the food, that is another story. Sorry all, just not impressed. IMHO, the food was nothing more than what is found at any Golden Coral but at a very high ticket price. But to be fair here, I am not a big breakfast eater and a bagel or toast and juice is just fine for me.

This is one of the reasons why I have aborted Chef Mickey in favour of this one. On the whole, the reviews are good. :)

Well I am not a big breakfast person either - fruit and yogurt is my staple, but I can get that on a buffet and I accept that I am paying for the dining experience at the character meals rather than just the food. I don't mind too much if it is just run of the mill. I don't eat bacon, sausage or eggs so I guess any breakfast is going to cost me more than I could eat anywhere I go. DD turned 8 last month and I think this may be the last trip where character meals feature as high on her priority list as they do at the moment so I am making the most of it. :goodvibes

They have a great variety of fruit and a yogurt bar (a couple types of yogurt with fruit, granola, choc chips, etc. to put in it), plus pastries, cereal, Mickey waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, a couple types of omelet, and bread pudding. I actually thought the food was really all very good quality, they bring it out in fairly small quantities so it's always fresh.

By the way, I just noticed your location. My DH is from Dundee. :)

Oh, not too far - a couple of hours drive from me! Hopefully it's warmer there - I just did a school run last week wading in knee-deep snow, carrying Easter bonnets and spring flowers - only to discover the schools were closed due to the blizzards. Enough already! :rotfl2:

I really appreciate all your help. This was a last minute change, literally so it's a big rush to make sure I know what I'm doing. Just read some more reviews and actually the food fares pretty well in most so I am happy. :teeth: :thumbsup2

What I highlighted above was my biggest disappointment in Cape May. For that price a couple of pre-made omelets sitting on a buffet table just don't work; I would like to have seen an omelet station with fresh toppings made hot and fresh. However, I will agree with you on the variety of fruit, pastries, and the fairly small quantities.

That is quite reassuring. We are not egg/meat eaters. DD may have a bit of omlette but if there is plenty fruit, cereal, yogurt and some nice bagels/pastries, you have 2 happy people. :)

Q: coming from WL, would it be quicker to take the boat to MK, then the bus to the BC?

If you take the bus to Epcot or DHS and don't have a park hopper (and are not going to either of those parks that day, how do you get to the boat?

I'm actually staying at POFQ this year so it looks like DHS is going to be easier. However if I keep my WCC (that's another thread) I will use the boat to get to WL :goodvibes
