Cape Canaveral Launch

For those of you who will be in the port area this Friday night/Saturday morning, there will be an Air Force launch of a rocket from Cape Canaveral. See the following link for more info.

We are sailing on the 10/30 Magic and currently have ressies near MCO that night. Thinking about changing to closer to the cape.......These launches are usually pretty impressive.

You can usually see the launches from Orlando. They aren't as impressive as being closer to the Cape, but I often watch launches from the lawn behind my apartment. Night launches are particularly impressive to see.

During daytime and evening hours (at least before 11pm), they break into programming on the local ABC station to let you know that the launches are happening. Generally, shuttle launches got actual full screen programming interruptions, while rockets get a picture-in-picture with text to let you know that it's going on. For a launch at that hour, I doubt they would do that.

I will be at the port at Ron Jons resort preparing for the 10/31 Wonder.

Am I reading that right? 2:30 in the morning? Is a rocket worth waking up that early to witness?

I guess it depends on how interested you are in this type of things. I'm the type of person who loves anything technical/scientific, so I am going to be setting my alarm. I have only seen one other launch, about 5 years ago, same type of rocket. We were staying in Cocoa Beach, so we got a good view. I even had my scanner with me and listened in. I was in hog heaven!
